It's car-di-zem. Or dil-ti-ya-zem.

Cardiazem isn't a real thing.

Before I started nursing school I had heard my doctor pronounce hypokalemia HY-POK-A-LEMIA. Once we started learning about it in school, my instructor kept pronouncing it HYPO-KALEMIA. The first time I said it the way I had heard the doctor pronounce it, EVERYONE jumped all over me and laughed at me. It still doesn't sound right for me to say it the second way but I do now so people won't judge me haha.

I don't care how many people tell me I'm wrong, I'll always prounounce the t in often.

I don't think I've ever heard anyone prounounce the t in soften, though.
