Car-dee-ya-zem.

It's car-di-zem. Or dil-ti-ya-zem.

Cardiazem isn't a real thing.

Can I get an amen?!

This is me. I have a difficult time pronouncing several medications, but this is is the one I butcher most frequently. I will actually say it out loud a few times before going into a patients room. Sometimes it works.

I used to pronounce Dramamine as if it rhymed with "drama queen." Some corrected me and said it sounds like "dram a mean" instead. I took his word for it.

It's Phen-er-gan, not phen-a-grin.

It's a Holter monitor, not a halter.

Spelling- it's HIPAA, not HIPPA.

When I see it as "HIPPA", I picture this:

BTW, the incorrect pronunciation was made by the facility's nurse educator who held a dual role as the director of staff development. Yes, she's no longer employed with that particular company.

2. Her-o-wine instead of heroin as said by many of my patients who use it.
