MiraCosta Palomar Fall 2017 ADN

Published

Hi everyone,

I'm starting this thread for those of us that applied to MiraCosta and/or Palomar's Fall 2017 ADN cohorts! Please share your stats/points and any insight on either program if you have any :).

I calculated 85/86 pts depending on life credits. I scored 88 on the TEAS 6, 3.6 science, 4.0 gen eds. I'm also an Emt, worked at a hospital, and have an AA degree.

I know MiraCosta only takes 20 and I believe Palomar is 36. I did almost all of my pre-reqs through MCC and I've been told It has been really impacted the last few cycles. 85-89 was the point range for spring 2017 at mcc! I'll be happy to get into either but Im not sure on the major differences between the two programs.

Good luck to everyone, I'll be anxiously waiting the next 4-6 weeks! 😬

what did the secretary said about when we will find out?

Specializes in Observation.

Hopefully some of us will receive it today!!

My mail came today and no letter yet. Maybe tmr!:(

I just received my letter in the mail from MiraCosta. I have been accepted as an alternate! I was a little disappointed at first, but I know that hundreds of people apply and only 20 get in and 5 are chosen as alternates, so I am definitely grateful that there is a good chance I will still be in for Fall 2017. The letter also stated that I am guaranteed a spot for Spring 2018 if nothing opens up for Fall. The competition must be tough this go around! I originally calculated 85/86 points, but then they told me they added 2 more points on my application for foreign language that I didn't know I was going to get, so by my calculation I had about 87/88 points.

The packet also included a confidentiality agreement for UCSD. So they must be doing some clinicals through them, which I'm stoked about because it's a great hospital.

Congrats. At least you got an alternate spot. I calculated around 78-80 points on my application. For sure i am not getting in!! Good thing I applied to 4 different schools. Im an EMT, working in the hospital, bilingual, and poor. I didnt do well on the teas but i do have a good gpa.

Thank you! We have pretty similar stats, I'm also an EMT and worked in a hospital. Where else did you apply? I think you still have a good chance at getting into city, grossmont, or Palomar if you applied to any of those. I know city has been accepting students with points in the 70s and I think grossmont as well.

My friend talked to MiraCosta's nursing secretary recently and she said that the points this time around were even higher then last time, and it was 85-89 last cycle. I think Mcc is the hardest to get into and they accept the least amount of students. I called to talk to them today and she made it sound like there could be more then 5 alternates because they need them due to people declining admission. However, she said that 4 alternates could have the same number of points for example. I think it really comes down to them deciding if you are a good fit for the program if you end uo being one of the top applicants. Any extra effort/experience you have, certs, language, etc all play a factor. I also submitted a letter of recommendation which I think helps!

Does Palomar send emails or mail?

Thank you, I also applied to Palomar,MSJC, and National. Hopefully one of them takes me! Lol

Good Luck and please keep us updated

Just got my rejection letter. I didn't even get on a waiting list! Wth. I thought I'd at least get on a waiting list with 86 points!! I'm worried that some of my points weren't added to my application because they were added my second time applying and my first email adding the points was ignored - I double checked that they were added and the girl said she forgot and would add them. I'm hoping something went wrong and this was a clerical error. Maybe I'm just kidding myself but I have to at least check. This is my second time trying. I am crushed.

I just received my acceptance letter from MCC yesterday 4.4.2017. Waiting on Palomar. Still undecided which school to go to. I estimated 91 points on my application. I scored a 90% on teas 6. 4.0 on my prereq and 3.5 on gen Ed. I have volunteer points, reference letters, bachelors degree.

Do you know when palomars is suppose to come? I know online it says end of April but some people seem to think it's going to come now
