Hi everyone,
I'm starting this thread for those of us that applied to MiraCosta and/or Palomar's Fall 2017 ADN cohorts! Please share your stats/points and any insight on either program if you have any :).
I calculated 85/86 pts depending on life credits. I scored 88 on the TEAS 6, 3.6 science, 4.0 gen eds. I'm also an Emt, worked at a hospital, and have an AA degree.
I know MiraCosta only takes 20 and I believe Palomar is 36. I did almost all of my pre-reqs through MCC and I've been told It has been really impacted the last few cycles. 85-89 was the point range for spring 2017 at mcc! I'll be happy to get into either but Im not sure on the major differences between the two programs.
Good luck to everyone, I'll be anxiously waiting the next 4-6 weeks! 😬
Just got my rejection letter. I didn't even get on a waiting list! Wth. I thought I'd at least get on a waiting list with 86 points!! I'm worried that some of my points weren't added to my application because they were added my second time applying and my first email adding the points was ignored - I double checked that they were added and the girl said she forgot and would add them. I'm hoping something went wrong and this was a clerical error. Maybe I'm just kidding myself but I have to at least check. This is my second time trying. I am crushed.
Oh no! I'm so sorry, did they just now tell you the points weren't added? If so I hope they can fix it. Honestly don't get too discouraged. My friend talked to Mallory and she told her that the points were very high this time, even higher then last time with was 85-89. It sucks when people a couple cohorts back are able to get in with points in the 80s. But it's so competitive people are doing everything they can the increase those points so it just gets more and more impacted each cycle. Have you considered applying to any other programs like grossmont? I know they accept a lot more students and I think with your points and experience you would definitely get in.
I just received my acceptance letter from MCC yesterday 4.4.2017. Waiting on Palomar. Still undecided which school to go to. I estimated 91 points on my application. I scored a 90% on teas 6. 4.0 on my prereq and 3.5 on gen Ed. I have volunteer points, reference letters, bachelors degree.
Congrats on getting in!!!!!! I'm hoping I'll get in for fall as an alternate. I also applied to Palomar too so we will see!
Honestly I can't. I can tell you the worst section was my TEAS, which was a 77.3%. SUPER low. But, I made up for it quite a bit because my GPA was 4.0 for pre-reqs and I think 3.8 or 3.9 in the others. I also have quite a bit of experience as both a CNA and also in the military as a corpsman. I think that's what did it for me. I'm sorry I don't remember the actual score :/

I think they say end of April just in case it takes that long. MiraCosta's website says that as well. The email palomar sent me when they confirmed they got my app (I turned it in on a day the office was unexpectedly closed) specifically said end of march/early April. So I guess we will see! :)
