MiraCosta Palomar Fall 2017 ADN
Just got my rejection letter. I didn't even get on a waiting list! Wth. I thought I'd at least get on a waiting list with 86 points!! I'm worried that some of my points weren't added to my application because they were added my second time applying and my first email adding the points was ignored - I double checked that they were added and the girl said she forgot and would add them. I'm hoping something went wrong and this was a clerical error. Maybe I'm just kidding myself but I have to at least check. This is my second time trying. I am crushed.

MiraCosta Palomar Fall 2017 ADN
Hey there! I think I have about 86 points. I scored an 80 on my TEAS, 4.0 GPA, phlebotomy license, experience in medical field, fluent in ASL. I only applied to Miracosta because of a mistake with my Palomar app. This is my second time applying to Miracosta. I did most of my pre-reqs there. Also - we find out at the end of April, right

Invitation to Reapply
Thanks! I've got to keep the faith! Also, I agree: they do need to expand. There aren't many campuses in San Diego, so it would make sense. There are a lot of for-profit schools popping up in the absence of spots, and it's such a bummer to hear about the outrages tuition some are paying. At West Coast University (about 45 minutes from MCC) the total cost of their BSN is $130,000!! There are just not enough options for those who are trying to get into the nursing field out here. Oh - I also just reread the letter they sent. It was over 240. When I read that the first time I think I had tears in my eyes by the time I got to the, "We regret to inform you" part and I thought it said 290.

That's what I'm wondering; I'm trying to think positively and hope that it means I was a strong candidate.

Also - with so many applicants for so few spots, it's a super competitive school. They don't ever have vacancies.

Invitation to Reapply
It isn't a for-profit school. It's a community college. There were almost 300 applicants for 20 positions (minimum GPA of 2.7 to be eligible to apply), so I am just hoping that if they actually kept my application that it meant something, because I doubt they kept hundreds of applicants, but who knows. From what I've heard the students getting accepted this cohort were at about 82 or above points. I would have been at 80 if my financial aid paperwork was properly submitted, so I was pretty close. I have a 4.0 and got an 83 on the TEAS, have medical experience etc. I'm working on my phlebotomy cert and I am hoping that this will give me that final push to get in. I have to go to this school because I finally have child care at their center! I'd wind up spending an extra 10k in student loans per year for preschool if I go anywhere else, so..

Thanks! For my second application I will have 85 points (versus 79 for my first application) so I'm hoping this is enough to be accepted!

Invitation to Reapply
I applied to Miracosta's RN program for Fall enrollment and wasn't accepted. I had 79 points, but I should have had 80 (my financial aid paperwork wasn't accepted, but I did have financial aid. It was too late for me to revise my app by the time I was notified.) My question is this: I received an invitation to reapply, and of course I will reapply. I was told they have kept my application on file. Has anyone had an invitation to reapply and NOT been accepted? I mean, it's got to be a good sign if they've kept my app, right? I'm asking on this board because this is where all of those who have been accepted hang out, so hopefully there is someone who has been through something similar.
