Ok, I had a positive drug screen. . .taking Tyl#3 s/p wisdom teeth extraction. . . my screen was positive for codeine & morphine. . . Trying to remember but can't find anything in my books, is codeine excreted through urine as morphine?
Thanks.

Pre-employment drugscreens at all 3 nursing jobs so far (2 of them were rehabs - have to practice what you preach!).
Each and every one of them made me nervous. I don't know why, but after about the second or third day I start freaking out about what kinds of seeds are on a big mac bun and whether or not Sudafed metabolizes into something that shows up on there!
As for the drinking in the morning thing.... I've done 3 complete admissions at my new job. All of them before noon. All of them completely intoxicated.

I'm a student and I just had to sign a paper last week acknowledging that I understand the drug testing policy.
We have a mandatory drug screening for everyone before we start clinicals, and after that, random drug testings, where a computer will select 10% of the students. In addition, if there is suspicion, we can be asked on the spot to take a drug test.
I know that with the drug testing, they split the urine into two batches, and test the first. If it comes back positive (or inconclusive), and we challenge the test, they send the second sample for more expensive, accurate testing.
They gave us a range of threshold limits for various drugs, which I don't have with me, but can post later, if anyone is curious.
Interestingly, a friend of mine attended this school last year, and in his class of 25, 4 people failed the initial, pre-clinicals drug screen, and were removed from the program.
you were completely intoxicated while doing 3 complete admissions? and before noon??? you rock....better woman than i am....Originally posted by OBNURSEHEATHERPre-employment drugscreens at all 3 nursing jobs so far (2 of them were rehabs - have to practice what you preach!).

The hospital where I work does them on hire and annually. When I hired on, I was there at 8 a.m. for my pee test and blow in the breathalyzer test. I ask the breathalyzer guy, "Why give this test at 8 a.m.? Who would have alcohol on their breath at eight o'clock in the morning??" He said, "you'd be surprised how many people get up and have a drink ....................or two, to get them going in the morning or to get their "nerve" up to come in here for pre-employment testing!!" LOL DUH ! You're coming in for a pee test and you want to slug down a couple?? They must be drawing unemployment !!
