Midwestern State University spring 2015 hopeful

Published

I have finally gotten everything situated with my classes and GPA to FINALLYYYY apply! I am sending in my application this week, just finished up my chem class with a B thank god. I have a 3.0 GPA for my prerequisites and about 60 to 63 points. What do you think my chances are for getting in? When I talked to my advisor she said if I got a B in chem then I should have no problem but my worrying self doesn't want to wait that long to see. And how long did it take for a response. Application deadline is August 15th. Any helpful advise would be appreciated!!

@Tiffaniebush thats what the nursing advisors said?

Yes the accelerated nursing program is 15 straight months including summer the generic BSN is 5 semesters of spring and fall with no summer semesters

Other than the nursing scholarship, but that's not open right now... Have you tried applying to outside scholarships, like from fastweb and stuff? That's an amazing GPA, good luck on getting your 4.0 :)

Thank you, but whats fastweb?

Fastweb is just one of the websites for scholarships that aren't school specific that the financial aid office at MSU told me about. If you grew up in that area, you may be applicable for more scholarships, but since you go to UTA like me, you probably didn't? I would definitely look into the GPA based scholarships and join MSU's honors program because they also offer a scholarship!

Why is it taking so long to get the letters ??

Why is it taking so long to get the letters 

I don't know but I've been wondering the same thing ... If you don't know your ranking contact Jeana, and you can pretty much tell if you got in or waist listed, but for me I need the official letter so I can help get my tuition paid, and I am really curious how they are going to do orientation, I'd like to do the new student orientation and nursing orientation on the same day so I don't have to drive to Wichita Falls twice, and I would like to register soon because I need a couple of easy filler classes so I can be a full time student

So stressful!

Same here I will not be satisfied until I have the letter! I bought my stethoscope and scrubs!

Yup, I'm going to the tour this Friday to check out the campus and Mustang Village, but I have so many questions!

I also agree, I don't want to have to go down there 2 more times for the orientation and the nursing orientation! I plan on auditing patho and skipping the intro class all together so I need 2 extra classes. I'd like one of them to be a psychology class and the other to be an easy one. Does anyone want to take a couple outside classes with me so we can be full time? I would really like to bond with you all and start forming study groups and friendships early. Being so far is going to be a bit overwhelming but I can't wait to meet you!

The new student orientation is January 15 but class starts about a week after that so how are we even going to get our financial aid dispersed in time to get anything done?! So many questions and MSU's just giving me crickets in return :(

This may be helpful to someone. I just emailed Jeana Brunson about spring registration because I had not heard back from the spring 2015 nursing program and she told me I was accepted! She said she "hopes" letters go out this week. I would recommend emailing her and saying the same thing, maybe she'll give a response. Anyway, I wish everyone good luck and can't wait to meet everyone! :)

Never viewed the campus, I was planning for a visit but I didn't want to make that drive three times. Let me know what you think about Mustang Village (thats my first choice for housing)

I also need two more class, I'm taking the clinical and pathophysiology and I want to be full time so I plan on finding two filler classes (thinking maybe a physical education class), I've already taken psychology & I don't know if financial aid will let me retake it, but we can try! We can work on not being so overwhelmed together because I will be about three hours from home! :(

oh, & that does bring up a good point about finical aid dispersal ... if you get an answer please post it on the thread because I am really curious to know. Moving schools mid-year is proving to be a hassel.

Do you want to come down with me on Friday? Just text me at 4696716065 if so! We just just drive down there really early in the morning (the event started at 8:15am) and I think everything should be done by 3pm? They weren't specific on end time... I'm not looking forward to driving down for regular and nursing orientations but this first visit will be fun!

I was thinking about just auditing patho since I'm going to make an A in it right now at UTA. I know I'm not really learning much right now since its online but I don't eat to chance ruining my GPA by maybe getting a B or a C (God forbid) in a class I don't need... Just let me know which exercise class! Do you know if it would be 1 or 3 credit hours? Med term is only 1 credit hour down there :( We could take adolescent psych or one of the upper level psychologies? I can't wait to meet you!

Will do! No one seems to be able to answer my questions so far though. The FAO office just kind of told me to tackle that problem when and if it happens and I'm a planner so waiting just goes against my nature XD

Does anyone know when we'll be told our room assignments by the housing office? I know that the students renewing have already been notified, but I just want to make sure I get an apartment...
