Midwestern State Fall 2015

Published

Hey everyone! I've become interested in applying for MWSU for Fall 2015, but I have yet to see any threads about it so I decided to start one myself! Could anyone help me with their point system?

@keunnamonae and agieperry It would be a good thing to go up there so she recalculate your points..I would be going there too, to turn in my application, turn the campus and also so she can recalculate my points aswell, because I dont think she calculated it well at all. My calculations its suppose to be 82 points. I mean I have over 60 credit hours completed and all d bsn courses they need done. With a 3.89 gpa and only 2 B's on my transcript. I know you are probably saying damn girl, u good to go.lol.. I just like everything done correctly and perfect. I probably, would take two other classes to make me full time, but depends on how much financial aid I would be losing if I take 2 classes. I don't want to overwhelm myself first semester at all and also taking classes I dont need.

Ya the lady on the phone, said you guaranteed a spot, once you fill in the housing application and turn in the deposit. She also said, we have a choice to take on which apartment you want..Am like I want mustang village, coz it fills up fast and its the cheapest apartment.

@lorr19 I just thought about this but on the website where it describes the point system in the first category for the 2 points for classes completed, it says that you can only get a max of 42 points for that section maybe that is where she didn't add all the classes you have taken because if you've taken all the required prereqs for midwestern they only add up to 42 possible points. So if you calculated more than 42 points in that first category maybe that is where the problem is and why she gave you a different number than you thought. Just a thought lol that the only thing I can think of that maybe why she gave you something different. Yeah I really want to know how Midwestern handles there financial aid and if they really give help to students or if they try to give more loans? Because that why i had to move from UTA and go to TCC because of the money.

Yeah mustang is the most popular I've heard and nicer than the other apartment, and its all bills paid so I am like that is were I need to be and plus get own room and bathroom. I know I read on a previous post from one of the other years someone said that if you pick sunwatcher or sundance they don't give you a choice of whether you want a 2 or 4 bedroom and they just put you in a room!'

I am core complete with DCCCD. I have a previous bachelors degree. I know my points will be in the 70s. Am applying for both the Accelerated and the traditional programs. The app for the Accelerated is open I will go up there in January to submit my app for the Accelerated and visit with CR to calculate my points for me. The Accelerated app opened in December through March 1st.

No I think my calculations are right. For the part where it says u get one point for core and prerequisites over 3.0, am supposed to get 21points because the perequisites are 10 and core is 11. Thats where she made the mistake for me and another place too. She gave me only 20 points. Ok see, area for 42 points( 2points each) , I got 42, then add all prerequisite with a b or above..I got a 10 there, add cumulative gpa of all core and prerequisites, I suppose to get a 21 there and then finally add gpa of prerequisites over 3.0 or so I got a 10. So basically am actually supposed to get 83 points. Am not happy, that she didnt add my points well. Last semester, I saw some complains where student said their points werent added well aswell. Well I would be there in feburary, so she explain it better and recalculate it. @ angieperry, u wld do great since u done with all dose classes and have a Good gpa too.

I too have a bachelors degree but have decided not to do the accelerated program because it will just be to busy for me I want to take my time and enjoy it also because I feel it will help my grades to not cram so much into 15 months but if you get in good luck also I created a Facebook page there are only 8 members so far but it should help everyone get familiar with eachother it is

@lorr19 I thought for that part with the cumulative gpa you only got 1 point for every .10 over 2.5. so like my cumlative gpa is 3.7, so it be 3.7-2.5=1.2 and the divide 1.2/.1=12 points? Is that right or am I doing it wrong. Idk their point system confuses me sometimes because when I tried to add my points up myself the first time I came up with like 56 and and that was like 10 points lower than what my actaul points where when CR did it for me instead lol. It just confusing alittle to me. But yeah I think it best to actually have her calculate them while your there so you can ask all the questions you want through email there can be alot of miscommunication or misunderstanding.

I think we all will be fine and get in! We just have to stay positive! With the accelerated program do you have to have a bachelor's degree to apply?

@tiffaniebush I cant find the page

@keunnamonae, ya its way better to be there while she calculates the points. I would be going there, two days after the application opens. For the accelerated you have to hold a previous bachelor's degree to even be qualified. I think the accelerated is too fast, its 15months, but oh well some people learn better fast paced.

I know we all would get in and would be fine too... Type the page on Facebook and it will come up. I think members there are some of the students for the spring semester. I already sent a request, waiting on one of the members to accept it.

Yeah I totally agree! I wont be able to go until March 23, 8 days before the application period closes:(, because my two 8 week classes dont end until March 20. But I guess that ok because without thoses classes completed my points would go down to like 63 instead of 68 which is a significant difference. So I will be going down early that morning to get that application in. Yeah I wouldnt do the acclerated because I think it to fast, but I have a friend who has a bachelors degree and she thinking of applying.

Ok I will try to search it again when I get home and I am on my personal computer because I cant get on facebook on my computer at work lol and it is not coming up when I search it on my phone

I sent a request can u grant it?

Ya true, atleast its ending way before the deadline..u can use a computer when you get home.

No. @lorr19, commutative GPA of all core and prerequisites above 2.5 gpa, the highest point for that is 15. You cannot get more than 15. I spoke with her today, cos I was trying to calculate my points and she explain it to me because it was confusing to me. And go a over 3.0 you can't get more than 10.
