Hey everyone! I've become interested in applying for MWSU for Fall 2015, but I have yet to see any threads about it so I decided to start one myself! Could anyone help me with their point system?
@keunnamonae, just be optimistic..I believe you would get in with no problems..You would have a lot of points and so u be good to go. Spring semester, someone got in with 68 points and another with 66 and 67 points. You would get in, just be hopeful. You lucky to have God parents that are willing to do that for you. Texas tech is a very good school and highly competitive too to get in now. Your teas score so I heard, has to be very high, plus the process of applying is along process and you would be interviewed before they even grant admission too. Also u write essays, do a recorded interview I think, at first before face to face. You summit your application through nursing cas, and then apply tru another website again..just a whole lot...Midwestern and other schools process not so complicated. But its a good school though, so ya.. if I had the time to really prepare for the teas the way I want to, so I can get scores in the 90s, I would have applied there. But I don't even have the time, I work 12hours shift everyday now, and sometimes its back to back. It's a whole lot, so ya would apply to just three schools. I have to save a lot before nursing school begins, because I might not be able to work weekdays, might be just weekends.
@lorr19 yeah I know tech process is a long one. my friend is applying to their pharamacy program and the process is just about the same and she is like OMG its so much! lol Yeah i am pretty lucky with that one becuase if I didnt have God parents I would have had to really really save money because my mom is a single parent and paying for 2 kids in college and my brother goes to UT austin and they are expensive! Yeah trying to study while having a job is so hard, I only work 4 hours a day for 5 days. So it not that bad, so what your doing is amazing! Yeah I feel you on the saving part because have to have money and who knows what kind of job you can find down in wichita falls and how much you get paid or even how much you could actually work. My mom said I would probably be able to only work weekends, if that.
@ kennumanoe Ya we on d same side too. My mum is a single mum too, my dad passed away..my brother just graduated from engineering and immediately got admission to graduate school. My mum has to assist him with that coz hes not working just, planning to start doing internships in companies next year; graduate school is alot of work. Plus I have another brother in college and a sister that would be entering college next year summer, so its going to be alot on my mum, and I don't like stressing her out on things I can handle if I push myself really hard. So thats y I have to save a lot so she dosent have to worry about me. Am just praying theres a decent job at Wichita falls, that pay well too when I want to work during d weekends.
@lorr19 I am the exact same way. I hate stressing my mom out with things I know I can take care of. I dont ask her for anything and as of right now she doesnt have to pay for my school because I got a grant from TCC so that was a blessing. And my books and anything elses I need I make sure I pay for. so I am hoping that Midwestern will give me some good financial aid and I have already been loking into scholarships. My brother is finishing college in may but she still has so much money to pay back in loans. Yeah I get it, and plus I just like being able to do things and get the things I need on my own and not have to burden anyone. I know right I pray there is a decent job too that will understand our school situation and let us just work certain days because you know some jobs they want you to work crazy hours.
I work at a bank and one of the members just told me her daughter goes to midwestern and it is a great school and nursing program. That dont believe the negative things , some people just dont fit with certain schools you just have to go visit but she was sure I would love it. So just for anybody who got cold-feet.
@kennumonae, we have things in common then. Good to know.. Ya I love to be independent and get things done myself. I also got a scholarship aswell as financial aid in tcc. The scholarship was sent to my bank account..I got 820 dollars, coz financial aid already.paid for my fees. The money was renewable until I finish tcc. Unfortunately I wont ge getting the free money again coz am done with tcc.. i wish we knew earlier, would have told u how to apply for it. But u cant apply anymore coz it opens in spring and d money wld b used if u in d fall, but u b going to Midwestern so ya.. I would apply to.Midwestern scholarship coming next year..I would call the scholarship office, and ask them when to.apply and all.
Different schools for different people, just depends on what you want. I love Midwestern and also have heard great things about the nursing program, plus its affordable.
We just hope and pray, theres a job that can accommodate us working just weekends. Else I might just work inside school.
Yeah TCC gave me just enough to pay for my classes and I got a 100 refund for both fall and spring. Yeah i wish I would have known about the scholorships I came in late to TCC though in the summer. I am definitely going to apply to as many scholarships for msu as I can. I will probably call the scholarship office as soon as my admission goes through.
Oh yeah I forgot about working inside the school that might be a better option, they will defintely work with your school schedule.
@lorr19 No I am not a member, and I started at TCC in the first summer session of 2014. I have looked on their website and so they had a lot of outside the school scholarships, are those the scholarships you were talking about? I know when you apply for fasfa they automatically consider you for some scholarships but does the school specifically offer other scholarships that you physically have to apply for do you think?
Working at the school would be more convenient, both my friends work at their schools they go to and they say they love it.
@keunnamonae, the scholarship I got was from tcc not phi theta kappa. I applied for the scholarship at tcc and got it.You have to be a member of phi theta kappa, to be able to get some scholarship they offer and an automatic scholarship to any university for members only.
Did you take classes in another uni or college? I am suprised you started this year and u be done next year summer. Thats alot of classes taken a short period of time. But oh well...
@lorr19 I remember reading something about phi theta kappa on midwestern website, I will have to go back and find it.
And no this is my second year in college. I went to UTA full time last year(2013-2014) and then I started TCC in summer 2014. So my classes were spread out so my summer 2015 it would have taken me like 2 years to do all the prereqs required, which is pretty normal.
@keunnamonae, ya if you a member of phi theta kappa, when transferring to Midwestern you get 1500 automatic scholarship for just being a member. I think, you should try and join, so u get that free money. The enrollment fee, is 95 dollars I think. But the benefit you get is a lot.
Oh I c thats cool, I don't like UTA for some reason. Its just too expensive also, plus I didnt even get financial aid there for the spring. They told me my efc is so much. Am.Like really? My mum is a single mum, and we are three in college and one would be entering next year too. They like oh shes making a lot blah blah. Am like this is rubbish. So now, I have to pay for pathophysiology out of pocket. But its ok...

I have nutrition already, UT Tyler also requires nutrition. I'll look into it and give it a shot. Thanks for the info.
