Need help from mom nurses please
Just focus on one thing at a time. Am not a nurse but a senior in nursing school. You are just worrying yourself for nothing. Sorry if am harsh, you're just building castles in the air.

Don't get along with a particular CNA
Am now in nursing school, but I've been an aide, working with people. I can see how you feel. I used work at SNF, we had a lot of one particular group of people who were always speaking in their language. I was never comfortable around them. Bring this to the attention of management. Some CNAs are really rude and insubordinate. Some are really nice and polite.

African American patients - a cultural question
I think you should check the way you approach, this "particular" group of people you are talking about.

African American patients - a cultural question
It's not an African American culture. African American here. This thread is really uncalled. It's really offensive. You shouldn't have specific. That's why we learn cultural competence in nursing school.

Unhappy Speech Pathologist
If you can't stand dealing with patients, gross stuff and nasty odors especially when doing patients evaluations, nursing may not be a carrier you would love. Just go into banking...something else.

I doubt ill get into the nursing program
At least you can retake your math and A&P. Nursing school is so competitive now. Get your grades up and you should be fine. Am a nursing student myself. All the best.

Grade confusion. Help pls.
Sorry, you just have to retake the class. Good luck.

What is or was your easiest or hardest nursing course
This is what I like about Allnurses, members commitment, and always willing to share their experiences. It's just wonderful. I appreciate your contributions.

What is or was your easiest or hardest nursing course
People (those in the program and those are done) keep scaring me with med surg. I hope I make it through. And it seems to me from the thread that someone's hardest course was someone's easiest. God help me. So far pathophysiology and assessment are the easiest for me. I'll see as I progress.

What is or was your easiest or hardest nursing course
Am a nursing student, and want to know what your easiest or hardest course was when you were in nursing school and the strategy you used to pass the class.

BA in unrelated field first a bad idea?
If nursing is really your calling, why waste money and time on some major first. You need to sit down and think really hard on what you really want then talk to your school counselor. Good luck.

Bachelors in Biology/MSN Program
You can't just transfer like that. Even with your first degree, you still need some more classes. Like A&P 1 and 2, microbiology, chemistry, some schools take nutrition. I would call the school you want to transfer to and ask for the classes you would need in addition to your biology degree in order to get into their accelerated program. Am a nursing student now, I had a previous degree, but I still took some more classes before starting the program. It's not as easy as your advisor told you. And upon completion of your accelerated nursing program, it still a bachelors degree in nursing not a masters degree. Good luck on your educational goals.

Caregiver sibling abusive to bed-ridden grandfather
I don't know what mum hopes to achieve here. Your grandparents deserve better than this. Caring for the elderly needs training. Some people just have the passion to care for the elderly. The fact that he's your grandfather, doesn't make family caregivers. At this point grandfather has to go to a LTC facility. Where his meals, baths, and others things are taken care of by people that are trained. This is absolutely abuse. I don't know what your mom does, but it's her responsibility to take care for your grandparents. And the fact that your brother has no job does not make him a caregiver. Discuss this with your family, get a HHA or send him to a LTC facility. Grandpa doesn't deserve this no matter what.

BSN programs that accept low GPAs?
I would consider retaking the non science classes that I didn't do very well to bring my GPA up, since you did well in your sciences. Nursing schools have become very competitive, and with such GPA your chances of getting into the program of your choice is very slim. At least a 3.3 and up are competitive. Good luck.

New Staff Orientation
Am not a nurse yet, am in nursing school. This is what I think, you should notify your supervisor. Being a nurse for 7 years and do not know these basic stuff, it's quite strange. Let's consider our patients first. Seriously, are not safe with someone like this. I would tell my supervisor ASAP. Our patients come first.
