Microwaves

Random question..

do any of you have microwaves in your office? I am thinking of bringing of bringing one in but don't know if there is some sort of DOH

regulation against it? I don't have any "patient food" in my office (there's a refrigerator that some teachers keep their lunches in, no meds or student food). Let me know!

I don't. I'd love to, since it's sometimes hard to even get to the faculty room to heat up my lunch. But, if I had one, I have a feeling that it would quickly become "everyone's" microwave... :sarcastic:

That's my problem. I bring lunch, but can't make it down to the faculty room to heat it up! So most days I end up not eating or just eating an apple or something. I have an extra microwave from years ago that I want to bring in! I don't even care if other people use it, it would make my life easier!

Our district frowns on extra power usage like individual coffee makers, etc. so it would be a no-go.

I have one. The school actually bought it for me. I use reusable heat packs (I work in a MS/HS, some days endless stream of menstrual cramp complaints) and they got tired of me sending a kid to main office to heat them up, so magically one appeared (big thank you to my principal). Funny thing, is I don't often use it for my lunch...some days I am so busy with kid after kid that I don't get a chance to heat it up until after school!

i had one in my last office. The biggest eye roll I got was from the fire inspector until I pointed out to him that the unit was kept unplugged when not in use -it had to be because of how it was stored and the shared plug it used. Honestly, though I hardly used it and the microwave was as old as the hills

I have one and use it a few times a week. I use it to heat reusable heat packs, heat water for an ear cup, things like that. SOme staff use it to heat water for tea but it is not used too often.

We have not been allowed to have one either due to the Fire Department. I am going to check on the "unplugged unless in use approach".

There is a microwave in on of my offices that a parent brought for their children to use because they have a different diet due to their culture. It quickly became everyone's microwave until mom came in and put a lable that asked, "Vegetarian dishes only."

I have one though the district frowns on the extra electricity for fridges & microwaves in the teachers rooms. Most of the time I use it to heat up hot packs for students & water for salt water gargles (my tap water does not get warm at all), occasionally I will use it to heat water for my coffee/tea & lunches. I keep it unplugged till I need it.

Refrigs and microwaves are in all the teachers' lounges at each campus. Our cafeterias all have microwaves for the kids to use. I don't have an office per se on campus but only at the D.O. There is a microwave and refrig down the hall in the conference room.

No regs against use. So many people (kids included) bring in microwavable meals.
