I am starting this thread for all of us who are taking Micro over the summer.
We just started last week, I am pretty excited. For me, the biochemistry can get a bit fuzzy but the rest of it is fascinating. I am looking forward to this class.
I'm taking a Saturday class @ Baptist. Last lecture just went on, and on, and on Nothing against the professor, we just have a LOT to cover. Glad I just finished up Chemistry. So far it's definitely becoming handy. We have quizzed every week and our first exam will be on 5 chapters yay
(sarcasm)
So how is everyone doing? I just had my midterm last night. It was a staining/unkown organism practical. I'm pretty confident I got the right bacteria, but I was freaking out because I couldn't see a damn thing on my first slide! I wanted to cry! I got it together and did another gram stain and thankfully it came out. I cannot wait until this is all over!
Doing this online accelerated is very very odd. We use a program called Virtual Unknown and the tutorial and "manual" don't really explain much in the way of how to identify or what tests to use and I'm not very happy with it. It would be nice to have an actual walk-through tutorial designed to identify a specific microorganism instead of just throwing us in there and saying good luck.

We have our 3rd exam tomorrow over 4 chapters. Next week is our last week so we will have a final exam and our lab practical, lab quiz, and our final performance assessment. So far I am at an A in the class I hope I can hold on to it!
