  1. My first day was today and talk about a trial by fire. I immediately had to perform peri care as soon as I walked in the patient room. What an introduction.
  2. I hear you all on the scented products including heavily scented lotions, but what about hair products. I'm entering nursing school this fall and have no clinical experience at all. Can hair product scents be an issue? I'm planning on keeping my hair pulled back in a ponytail for clinicals.
  3. CSCC doesn't judge strictly on your GPA. They weigh heavily on A&P grade. You are also given credit if you already have a BS. My GPA is not great, but I scored well in A&P and also have a BS (in Theater Design and Technology).
  4. Doing this online accelerated is very very odd. We use a program called Virtual Unknown and the tutorial and "manual" don't really explain much in the way of how to identify or what tests to use and I'm not very happy with it. It would be nice to have an actual walk-through tutorial designed to identify a specific microorganism instead of just throwing us in there and saying good luck.
  5. I just started my fully online class on Monday, the 7th. It is defiantly the most intense course I've completed including my 3 week Psyc course last summer. There is so much to do over 3 months. I had hoped it would be spaced out more, but no such luck. Good luck all!!
  6. I'm enrolled for the fall semester at Columbia State Community College and I know that they accept the RODP of Micro. They pushed me to take it this summer so I wouldn't have to add it to the fall semester. They said for CSCC as long as the number matched the course that it was ok.
  7. Thank you much!! The sport one looks pretty perfect. *crosses fingers*
  8. Thank you for taking the time to do that!! Well dang it. I guess I'm stuck with the leather cuff ones.
  9. I'm allergic to metal and can't have the back of the watch face directly against my skin. I know that the cuff style usually has a leather cuff protecting me. I just checked out the Rip Curl site and saw the Aurora that seems to be totally encased in rubber. Does anyone know for sure? I'd hate to get it and it have the metal exposed.
  10. Current CSCC students, I have a question. The handbook basically says "white nursing uniform - no No stretch knits, jeans, capris, sweats, scrub suits or jumpsuits." So, what exactly should I be looking for? Also, regarding stethoscopes, do I need to get a double or single bell? Thanks in advance for the help guys!
  11. I ended up applying to Columbia State and Motlow. Both application processes were fairly simple. Just basically send in the required information at the required time. Motlow requires you take the HESI and basis their choices off of that and gpa. Columbia State requires things sent in during a specific month and wants everything back to your ACT/SAT score. HTH!!!
  12. Congratulations!!! I start in the fall and I am so excited that I finally figured out what I want to do with my life and that I am getting the opportunity to do it! :yeah:
  13. Thank you so much for the tips and advice! I start in the fall and am already preparing my study "room" for when the time comes. Unfortunately I have to share with the cats.
  14. I took my pre-reqs at MTSU but was very discouraged by the nursing department the whole time I was in contact with them. I already have a BS and took A&P my senior year of college for "fun." Yes, I know better now. I was told that it would be a cold day in he11 the day I got into the program and it was better for me to scrap my BS totally (called Fresh Start) and begin all over again. Thank you, but no. I applied to a couple of other nursing programs in the area and am starting in the fall. I did enjoy my A&P classes at MTSU though. There is a fabulous lab prof there that is a former nurse that is tough, but fair. A lot of students don't like her because she's so tough, but I felt that I learned a lot more from her. Good luck!!
  15. Murfreesboro is a wonderful place to live as well. I like that it has a small town vibe, but with a lot of amenities around. The park system is amazing here as well.
