Microbiology study group spring 2009

Published

Just wanted to Start a study group for spring semester .I thought it will also be fun to give pop questions for us to make up from our classes and answer to help us learn more. Hope to hear from u guys

Blue are you planning to go to CSU in chico or are staying at butte college?

I was accepted at Chico State for enrollment in general ed, and could apply for their 2011 BSN program, but Butte's RN program is open for me to start Jan next year, and I can take Chico's online RN-to-BSN, so I am going to stay at Butte.

Sounds like Bacteria- Peptidoglycan wall as no Eukaryotes has this wall and neither does Archaea and Fungi has a chitin wall. Bacteria has 2 subunits totalling logicall 80S but due to Svegen unit mass measurement, it comes out to 70s.

wow, topcat! sounds overwhelming. what school are you attending? good luck.

i am completing the pre-requisites online through new mexico junior college and st. petersburg (fl) college. i am applying to nursing school at remington college of nursing near orlando. the school's inaugural class started this month, january 2009. i hope to be in the second class starting in july.

We are really starting to pick up the pace now. We did acid fast staining technique in the lab yesterday. and we have gone over prokaryotes in lecture, chemistry, history of, some math calculations and talked about some unusual bacteria that don't fit in with the norms such as mycoplasma, etc.

We had our first quiz yesterday in AP2 on the senses i.e Eye/Ear. There were 10 questions. I hope that I did well. I was stumpled on 1 question which was are the Ossicles found in the middle ear. I anwered True and I believe that it was correct as these are the Stapes/Incus/Malleus. I dare to hope for 100%.

Next week, we will be having a quiz/exam on the Endocrine system next week and our big, first exam for Microbiology on Monday. It is 100 questions! It is going to be on 4 chapters- Eukaryotes/Prokaryoutes, The Golden age of Microbiology, Differential Staining, Microscope. etc

Good luck everyone.

Good job! The Ossicles are indeed in the middle ear.

I'm working as T/A in Anatomy while taking Phys and Micro myself. (Use it, or lose it!) LOL!!

Wow our first lecture quiz isn't until 2/24, which scares me. That is 5 weeks of info! We do have a small quiz in lab on 2/10, which I am not worried about. It seems pretty straightforward.

Specializes in ICU.

We've had 2 quizzes and our first exam in the lecture portion of micro. In the lab we've only had 2 quizzes. I was bummed, as I only got a 88% for the exam, but a felt a little better when I found out the class average was in the high 70's. At least now I have a better idea of how the teacher forms his tests and how to study for them, but I know the material is only going to get harder.

We have spent the last week focusing on Chapter 5 in the Tortora, Funke, & Case Micro book which covers microbial metabolism. I feel a bit overwhelmed in this section, seems like quite a bit to remember. Anyone else struggling with this part?

Hello everyone. I started micro Jan 13, my last semester of pre reqs. Yay!!! May I join your study group? I like Micro so far, but we just started.
