Has anyone ever taken Micro online before? I'm trying to complete my pre-requisites by the end of this summer and I think being able to take it online will improve my chances of doing this. For some reason, I'm thinking the community college I'm attending doesn't offer it in the summer, and right now I'm starting A&P2 and have no time for another heavy class.
If anyone has any suggestions of schools to try, let me know! Thanks

Be sure to check and see if your school will accept this class online. Neither of the schools by me will allow us to take API, II or Micro online. They feel the labs are insufficient even thought the schools were fully accredited.
Go to this forum for some good distance education advice:

Good luck!!

online classes are much harder than the regular classes, (experience) especially the science classes unless you just LOVE biology.

I've taken Micro, A&P 1 & 2 online and I am taking patho this summer in an 8 week session. I have to admit that there is a lot more work involved than the traditional science lecture courses that I have taken. That said, I LOVE the on-line classes. There is a lot of flexibility and I am able to study/work when it is convenient for me. If you are able to stick to a disciplined schedule then on line Micro should be no problem.

Never leave hope
I am presently doing A&P 2 and will be starting microbiology also online in feb. I am doing these courses from ccconline and I love the whole set up of class. I took 4 of my prereqs in fall 07 in local college in class setting but I am really enjoying my online class better than actualll going to campus. My campus teacher was moody, unpredictable always giving half of questions whose answers were not easly to be found in textbook. Our lab use to be crowded and even study groups looked like classrooms. Thses days I am doing lab at home with help of science kit. The most important thing in my online class is that my online teacher always replies promptly to my questions and we have interesting topics picked from chapters for our discussion boards .

I'm currently taking an 'online' microbiology course at Brookhaven. Although, only the lecture part is online, you have to attend lab on campus. There could possibly be online courses where you do not have to do this, although I can't see how you would be able to do all the innoculations, and slides, etc.! I will say that it is not as difficult of a course as I had thought in the beginning.

I took Micro at Rio Salado... loved it.. tough class, lots of essays, but I learned a lot. Check with your nursing school to see if they accept online science courses with a lab. Oh...Rio has classes that begin every 2 weeks...
