Hesi Exit Test
Hi. I take V-4 next week. I've been studying the Saunders NCLEX and had the evolve live review. I ordered the HESI review for NCLEX book and should receive by tomorrow. Does anyone know if the information from hesistudy.com is valuable? I can't afford to waste $97! This HESI is incredibly stressful, school should not be allowed to use outside vendor tests to dictate our graduation! Our passing each and every class and completing and earning every required credit for our degree should determine our graduation. The NCLEX will say if we get our license!!! How can this HESI ruin so many lives?!

SICK of HESI!!!
Ok, I am 34 years old. I started pursuing my dream of nursing at age 30-2006 and began taking all my pre-req's. i was accepted into Nursing program in 2009, and just completed in December(2010). It was hard, and I definately had to neglect my family at times to get through this, but my husband and I talked to them about it. I make good grades. A's and B's-A's my last semester complete with letters of recommendations and an internal interview by referral from an existing RN in the hospital I did my capstone at but have to accept an 'F' now until I pass HESI. So WHY can I not pass the HESI?!!! I passed the entrance, the mid-term and now what is going on? I study Saunder's, the 4,000 NCLEX ?'s, did the evolve HESI LIVE review we paid for at school and I can not pass this dang thing! I have tried 3 times. Getting as close as 12 points from the goal of 850. Now, I must complete all the case studies (again). I obviously need a different study method. I get nervous, and suspect every ? of being a trick and don't select obvious choices many times because of that. I am so depressed. I can't sleep, I cry at the drop of a hat, my skin has freaked out, I just don't know what to do. It's just not fair I have to take an 'F' in a class I earned an 'A' in and cannot be considered a graduate until I pass an outside vendor's 'predictor' test. I lost out on a job position in telemetry because of this, and now can't get an internship for several months because they have all begun. We have 5 children and have suffered through my years in school with one income and I just don't know what to do. This weight is so hard to bear and I am so stressed I can't even focus to study. I try and just don't absorb. Please someone give me some insight! Thanks:crying2:

H1N1 will you be giving the vaccine?
My kids have all tested positive for H1N1-all 5 of them, one after the other, all within the past 8 days. Today, my husband tested positive. They do have to miss a week of school, and feel miserable for about 48 hours, high fever, body aches, cough, but nothing different than the seasonal flu(in fact, doesn't seem as bad). They are all on Tamiflu, and two of my children on Azithromycin as well. The Dr. prescribed me Tamiflu also-and I've been taking it since Friday to prevent it, along with vitamins, and so far-so good(knocking on wood). My youngest two children were vaccinated this year for seasonal flu-still got this strain. It's spreading like wildfire here, and now 2 of my sister's 4 children were diagnosed in the e.r. today with Type A influeza-which CDC says 99% of Type A right now test positive for H1N1. I've noticed within 3-4 days my kids are back up and trying to do normal activities, just a little drained as with fighting any flu or respiratory infection, but nothing horrible. I can see if it is someone immune-comprimised or elderly, but I'm not sure even after my own children having it, I would have them vaccinated for something so new.

Brookhaven Nursing Program Question
Hi. I applied 2 app. periods ago with 28.76 points and got in the top 60 for interviewing, but didn't make top 40. I had applied prior with just my pre-req's and 16 pts, and knew I wouldn't get in, but wanted my 3 points. I applied again for this Fall semester with the exact 28.76 points, and they didn't have interview this last time-it was straight top 40-and I got in. I'm now in first semester. It kind of just depends on the app. pool. I have heard of people as low as 25 getting in since I started school there, but then they combined the Mt.View and BHC app's for awhile if not still, and it got a little tougher. I did hear however, that with the new building we have, and more staffing-the app. pool should increase soon. If you don't get in, atleast you get your 3 points, and I would definately go to the evolve website, log in and access your last HESI results and it gives you practice and quizes, etc. for things you missed to help you out and take it again. Good Luck!

Brookhaven Nursing Program Question
I still had dosage to complete when I applied. I had 29 points. I got accepted. You have nothing to worry about.

Brookhaven Nursing Program Question
Hi went to the school library and got the study guide. They don't allow you to check it out, but I went to the copy room and copied each section that I would be taking on the exam. I also went to the elsevier website and there are study questions and help there. I had trouble on the A&P portion, it was a little difficult. I guess it's luck of the draw what questions you get. Really, it's hard to study back all through A&P right prior to help because you have no idea what random question it might ask you, I think I made a 69% on the A&P portion the first time (84% total on the exam), I brushed up on it a little and took it a second time and made 86% total. The questions were different that time. But, I accepted the 86% HESI score, and applied for nursing a second time-and got accepted. I still had Dosage to complete upon application to-so don't worry about the End of Life if it hasn't been completed yet when you apply-just register for it asap. I took it as a summer course, like 3-4 classes I think it was. It was easy. I still have no clue why they can't offer that class online.

Brookhaven Nursing Program Question
I know people going into their 3rd semester of the program who were in my dosage class over the summer. I got in without having had taken dosage as well. It's the more lengthy courses they want you to have out of the way, and of course, it's a point scale-someone can have all courses complete, but not do as well on the HESI as someone who doesn't have all completed but scores higher on the HESI and the latter will get in.

For everyone that applied to Brookhaven for Spring '08...
No, I had 27.something and a friend of mine had 28. We were both chosen for the interview, and she got accepted.

Brookhaven Spring 09
I'm finished with all except Dosage, and when I tried to register for Dosage on Tuesday afternoon-it was already full. I'm going to have to keep checking back. I didn't make it in this time. I applied with 27.5 points. I did make it to the interview, but apparently I'm an idiot or something. I have been so depressed. This is the second time I applied. The first time I knew I wouldn't get in, but wanted the 3 extra points. I only made an 84 on the HESI, I guess I should try to take it again. It's a gamble. The longer I'm held back, the worse my memory of Anatomy gets. I am 32 with 5 kids and my husband and I decided on moving into a 3 bedroom 1 bath rent house so he could be the supporter while I went to school in 2006. I was really hoping to be in by now. Now, I'm held back so much longer. This semester I am taking Nutrition, and another math both that would go towards a Bac. if I decided to move forward with that. I believe I would make a great nurse, have always wanted to be one, and despite having kids-have the ability and support to do this. But, I feel I made a dire mistake during the interview when I mentioned having 5 kids and I saw the look on thier faces, and they began writing simultaneously. My heart sank. They asked me what my greatest accomplishment was, and that's what I said. I didn't get to elaborate that 3 are teens, and 4 are in school full time, and my youngest starts pre-k soon, and I have my mother, grandmother, and my husband who works 4 days a week with his new schedule-all rooting for me and willing to help. Now, I have to find classes to take this semester to keep my financial aid, then have the Summer. I'm just hurt, dissapointed, and embarrassed because everyone keeps asking if I got in. It's only pushed my family back this much longer from me graduating and having our second income so that my kids aren't cramped in this small house to boot. :cry:This is a painful experience!

Thanks! I am sure they are so busy with the interviews being back. It's just so hard playing the waiting game! In a way, I'm scared to know because if I don't get accepted I'll be so crushed! Everyone keeps asking me if I heard anything(friends/family), how embarrassing if I don't get in. Especially since it's narrowed down to how you did in an interview. I'll just try to keep positive thoughts. I've been cleaning the house like crazy due to nerves, lol.
