Are you all ready!!? I am super nervous so I wanted to create a thread for support!!

In my nervousness I bought some additional supplies which I hope helps! I got this for Micro Lab

http://www.amazon.com/Photographic-Atlas-Microbiology-Laboratory/dp/0895828723/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1377279257&sr=1-1&keywords=atlas+microbiology

It was recommended by my school and the reviews are great.

I also got the study guide the goes along with my text book.

I hope this helps!! I'm going full time this semester but I will be studying my micro every single day/night!

I had my first test a few days ago on Wednesday. I got a 69% and that was with curving. :/ I feel so lost in this class but i know i didnt study enough. one test is dropped at the end though.

The lab part of the class has me even more lost, we started our microscope quiz and I was the only one in class who didn't get any points and my lab group seemed annoyed by any questions I asked. I get another chance at the lab quiz on Wednesday but I already feel unconfident. :/

Aw I'm sorry. My first lab party was really "female dog" like. I found a much better partner and feel very free to ask her something I don't understand. My advice would be to ask as many questions as possible, if your lab group is rude go and ask the teacher. Flash cards are amazing tools as well.

Thanks for the advice I think I'm going to have to be more open in asking the professor directly for help. That describes my lab table perfectly they're all so competitive and focus on being "top dogs" pretty much.

I'm sorry you're having trouble with your lab partners. Luckily, my class is pretty laid back, and my lab partner actually works with me to get things done. Neither of us want to be there forever, haha. However, our first exam is next week. We'll see.. lol

Took my first exam yesterday, waiting to see the grade I received. This isn't going to be easy! (I must say I don't have the best professor, so most learning will be on my own:banghead:).

Does anyone have any good study skills or ANYTHING that can help me out, I really want to pass this class and not withdrawal. Just 3 more classes and I'm ready to sign up for the Nursing program. (withdrawling is the furthest thing from my mind so I need all the ideas for study and staying focused you guys have:)) Thanks in advance

We just had our exam, and I got a 96. Super happy about that!

What I do is I rewrite my notes after lecture, and I review them several times a week. I read the book only if I need clarification on something, as my professor tests from his lecture. If yours tests from the book, you will want to utilize that more thoroughly. A lot of people in my class use flash cards. If that works for you, do that. I have always found them to be a waste of time personally.

Ours doesn't use the book either, just her notes. Congrats on the awesome grade! I have my first exam on Thursday!

Me too! I know where to post for questions lol

Thanks for the tips really appreciate it :smug:

Got the results from my first test, I received an 80 *sigh* I need to study harder because I like A's. But I actually did better than I thought I would :woot:

I have my first Micro Lab Exam tomorrow! We've had 6 labs so far 2 exercises per lab so I have 12 exercises to study; the stress is definitely weighing down and this is only the beginning:dead: I WILL stay focused though!

That's awesome, congrats!!!

My professor lectures from a powerpoint (sooo boring all she does is read it :banghead:) I received an 80 on the first exam and now I know what to expect. Even though she uses powerpoints, I will still be reading the text because some questions she asked were definitely not on the powerpoints. And I will definitely be making flashcards, they've helped me tremendously in other classes so hopefully they help in here.

I absolutely love flash cards! They were my saving grace in A&P over the summer.

So it seems like Micro isn't going to kill me too badly, and I actually kind of love it. Granted, studying for an exam really sick doesn't work so well for me.. lol. However, my instructor loves putting all the relevant and/or necessary information on powerpoints for us to use for studying for the exams.

We've so far had 4 labs, 1 quiz, and exam on Thursday! We're about a week behind, which sucks, but we'll get caught up. Boy, I don't look forward to that though. LOL

I had that last spring and it was hard, but I would remind myself, "By the yard it's hard, By the inch it's a cinch" So you can do this, one inch at a time!

Just took our first exam and I feel pretty confident! Got 100% on the first quiz so I'm happy about that too!
