Microbiology - Fall 2008

Only three more lectures and I'm finished with my Micro class. We are reviewing the diseases and treatments and I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to best organize the material to help with memorization of diseases.
Did you organize them by body part?
By Bacteria? By virus? Is there a secret to organizing this stuff?
I'm doing well in my class but riding a thin line between A/A-. I know the instructor could possibly give me the A if I ace this last test. These 4 credits will affect my entrance GPA so I'm doing my best to get the A.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated :loveya:

In micro, I found it easiest to organize diseases first by the causative agent: bacterial diseases, viral diseases, parasitic diseases. Then a subcategory of where, if any place, the bacteria, virus or parasite acts: the brain, the small intestine, etc. Then a subcategory of THAT with symptoms.

There are probably a gazillion other ways to organize them, so hopefully others will pipe up.

This is so much work!

I felt asleep last night until at 7.00 pm with my scrubs on and I finally woke up this morning LOL. I was dead tired...this sleepless nights are getting to me. I can't wait for all this studying to be over. Ill probably sleep the whole month of December and maybe even longer:chuckle

My lab final is today! Whooohooooo! I ended up with an 89 on my last lecture midterm, so that helps. Would've been an A if I didn't erase three correct answers and choose wrong ones! :no: After today we only have the lecture final and I'm DONE. I'm most likely going to get a B in the class, which I'm thrilled with, considering my non-existent science background. Last time I had a science couse of any kind was before some of you were born. Anyway, it helped me so much to read your posts and know that I wasn't the only one out there having so much "fun" with Micro. Nursing school starts next month. To everyone starting soon, good luck and I hope you're in class with friendly, supportive people. :yelclap:

I always make flashcards with the disease on one side and the causative agent, symptoms, etc on the other. I try to memorize them in groups according to what body system they occur in. For example, for the respiratory system I'd make flashcards for Whooping Cough/Pertussis, TB, etc. and then once I had those down I'd move on to the skin, digestive system, etc. Good luck!

So...I got an 84 on the DNA micro test...I AM NOT SAD ABOUT THAT! i swear i felt i did HORRIBLE! so i am glad about this!!! i also finished my lab final..(it was take home) thats worth 100 points, then we have a 4th exam..ill take that on wednesday the 10th...and then my final exam WHICH IS CURVED!! WOOOOOHOOOOOO!!! ON THE 13TH! i couldn't believe HE CURVES IT!!! yahoo! thats awsome!

Now if i could only get rid on this lingering back pain...we would be ALL good...

Have a psychology test (the LAST exam) that is due before the 10th...PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE EVERYONE PRAY FOR ME...please..seriously please just stick me in your prayers..i NEED a good grade on this test this will decipher a b or a C and i DONT want to get a C..it wil be my first in my collegate career!!! (HARD TEACHER) So if you can find it in your heart..please send prayers and positive thought and LUCK my way...

As for me, Im real exhausted..I mean it.

I have my 3rd Exam on Micro Tuesday...I think this one is going to be Challenging for me. I hope I can pull up a B. Pray for me.

On Tuesday I get my grades back for my Micro Report which I totally screw up and my Psychology Research paper Grades. So, Let's see. All I know is that I've never felt this tired in my life...Falling as sleep everywhere! I need some vacation during my 3 weeks break? What do you think? LOL

Anyhow, Good luck to you...We are Awesome!:heartbeat

Hey sweetie pie!! Mel, hang in there babe we are ALMOST DONE! my last final is the 13th..this coming saturday and really i CANT WAIT. but i am getting bombarded with finals that are overlapping the same days! I have a micro exam (not final) on wednesday the 10th, and i also have a CIS final on wednesday! *** am i going to do? I also have my psych final that has to be done BEFORE midnight on the 9th UGH. then i have my final in micro on saturday. im pooped from studying!!

You will get that B honey..jiust keep trucking on! youll be ALRIGHT!! well pray for eachother! i got you! smile cause your going to nursing school!!! im beaming!!

just a few tests left and woohoo!!! i get to find out some of my grades (final) earlier than when they hit my transcript so ill know if i still have my seat or not....i CANT get lower than a C in any of these classes or i wont get into school. I have an A in sociology, A in cis, Borderline A/B in micro and not sure about Psych..go figure
