I need encouragement, I just signed up for Microbiology, Anatomy, and Physiology ( I am not talking about API or AP II, actually taking a full anatomy course and seperate physiology course to fufill my AP requirements). I am just dying to get my prereq's overwith so I can apply to nursing school, or at least get on a wait list. I have absolutely everything else I need done.
Anyone conquer this in one term and get through it??? I will not be working at all with the exception of my four hours a week volunteering at a hospital and I am married with a 2 year old who will be in daycare full time while I attempt this.
Pulleeaase give me some encouragement, stories, whatever!
How did it go with all of this? I am thinking of taking Physiology and Microbiologyin the summer together....
.
I'm taking both now and am half-way through the semester. I'm maintaining a 94 to 95 percentile average in each class, so it's doable. Micro is not even offered during the summer session here, as there are entirely too many inoculation/incubation cycles required to complete within two months. These classes would be a handful to complete together during the summer inter/session.

i'm taking micro, public speaking, ethics, and college algebra all this summer. 5 weeks, 5 days a week but i don't have a job so i think it will be fine.
16 hours this fall with a&p i, statistics, chemistry 105 (4 hour chem for health professionals, only if i fail the final this semester), art, intro to psych. i hope to finish on time. university of louisville really wont let you finish the pre-reqs in under 2 years for a bsn.
i should be in the nursing program and getting to do my phramacology the summer after this one coming.
Hey Ickles-
I'm in the same boat you are! I'm taking Microbiology, Human Anatomy, and Physiology - 3 separate classes in the Fall term! They are all 5 credit courses - UGH . I have no other prerequisite courses to take for Nursing and I'm anxious to apply so I want to get them over with! Good luck to you! I'll think about you when I'm going through the same struggles in a few months! Stock up on flashcards
!
I am going to be insane through the end of the year. In the summer I will be taking Sociology and Communications online and then Nutrition and Statistics. In the fall I will be taking Micro, A&P II, Organic Chem, a combination medical math/terminology which is online, an art class and a philosophy class. I need to get all these done by January when the BSN program is taking applications. I am currently taking Micro, but lost some points because I had car problems and a sick 5 yr old, so I know I will probably get a B in the class, and I will retake A&P II which I dropped because the teacher had medical problems and she wanted to teach even though she was sick and I had a bad experience with her. In addition, the Sociology will be a retake too. I understood the class, but the teachers tests were hard and the online teacher already has the guidelines for the class online, so I can start the work early.
You can do it! Think of this as preparation for what is going to be expected of you in the clinicals. I am a member of my NSNA club and I am on good terms with one of the nursing professors, and she told me that the people who do their classes slow for the A's often don't do as well with the pressure of the clinicals.
Good luck to you! I know you can do it!
Wow, you're a brave soul. And I thought I was bold, planning to take A&P I during Summer A (6 weeks), A&P II during Summer B (6 weeks) and in the Fall (15 weeks) will take Micro and Stats (Stats is online), all while working full-time.
Good luck if you decide to jump all in one semester!!
You can do it. I took micro, A & P, and Problem Stats in one semester while working part time, ended up with A's in all. Don't get me wrong, it didn't come easy, I was almost insane and totally exhausted at the end because I was obsessed over my grades, (I've gotten over that in nursing school)!!
i got b's when i took a&p ii and micro in one semester, and nothing else. that was a total of 6 hours lecture/6 hours lab + studying. that sounds like 9 hours lab + 9 hours lecture + studying and if your in a ten week summer session like we have it's time and a half 13.5 + 13.5 + studying. many of the things i learned in a&p i were things i needed for a basis in micro.
