Microbiology, Anatomy, Physiology, anyone successfully complete these in one term?

Published

I need encouragement, I just signed up for Microbiology, Anatomy, and Physiology ( I am not talking about API or AP II, actually taking a full anatomy course and seperate physiology course to fufill my AP requirements). I am just dying to get my prereq's overwith so I can apply to nursing school, or at least get on a wait list. I have absolutely everything else I need done.

Anyone conquer this in one term and get through it??? I will not be working at all with the exception of my four hours a week volunteering at a hospital and I am married with a 2 year old who will be in daycare full time while I attempt this.

Pulleeaase give me some encouragement, stories, whatever!

Can you pass all three classes? Sure. Can you pull off all A's or B's? Absolutely not. But good luck nonetheless.

I am taking Microbiology and Physiology (I took Anat last semester) and working 40 hours a week (I'm also married.. but no kids), and I am doing fine so far. Last semester I took Anat and Chem (and Nutrition and an english class) and got A's in everything while also working full time. If I wasn't working at all, I think I could take three sciences and get A's. It all depends on your study skills, memory, and ability to relax and not let stress take over. I believe a lot of people could handle more classes, but they get overwhelmed with the idea of how much work they have to do and it inhibits their ability to actually do the work.

Also, don't let anyone tell you that you *can't* do it! You can! It just takes dedication. Everyone is capable of different things.

I managed to pull it off and kept my 4.0. Albeit, I wanted to DIE most of the semester - anatomy, physiology, lab, microbiology, and sociology in one semester. However, I don't have any children. I was working at the time, though and I have no clue how I did it! Tons of time managment and a set daily schedule were huge in getting me through. If I can do it with my procrastination problem, I think anyone can.

I just finished A&P II and Microbiology in the same semester along with nine other hours, and I survived with all A's. It can be done. You just have to really focus, and find links between the two courses. You can do anything you put your mind to do, and you will be so glad you have both of those courses finished that it will be worth the extra effort. Good luck to you!

My friend took Anatomy, Physiology and Microbiology all in one semester, with labs at a community college. She received A's in each class!

She wasn't working, had no kids, and had a husband supporting her (which definitely helped) and she had already completed a bachelors degree in biology - AND - it was her 2nd time taking Physiology (she took it for her major at her University but her major didn't require a lab so she had to retake it in order for it to count towards her pre-reqs). She wasn't trying to get into nursing school though. She was going for Physician Assistant school, and she got accepted! :D

Anyways, it's definitely possible to take all 3 and get A's. You just have to be very motivated and focused. Having a good support network certainly helps as well.

Go for it you can do anything you put your mind to, I'm taking AP I and AP II right now along with Concepts of nursing (my school requires it before you can be accepted into the nursing program the concept class) Dev Psych and Music and so far I'm holding up pretty well. I strive for A's and wont take anything else! It is a lot of work though! And I dont have a job right now except a supportive Fiancee! So as long as you have a support system you should be fine! :)

If you have good study skills and can make time every day to study, I think you will be fine. I took A & P I and Micro last semester and made A's while working full time outside the home and running our farm. I carried my study stuff everywhere to take advantage of a few minutes here and there. If you stay motivated you can do it. Good luck! :twocents:

You can do it...if you want, and you don't need any trite inspirational phrases to motivate you. I pulled all my pre-nursing reqs in 6 months...the summer and the fall term. It was 29 units, including A&P I + II, Micro, Chem I & II, Nutrition, Psych 101, and Dev. Psych...and pulled a 3.9.

You need to be well organized, manage time efficiently, focus on the big topics, anticipate exam content, and analyze the personalities and stay on the good side of your professors.

I was a FT student while working 25 hours a week, and now I'm interviewing at some of the better accelerated programs.

Focus and be dedicated. Sacrifice social evenings to play catch up. Get up an hour early to study, stay awake one more hour to review. Eat well, exercise, and remain positive. Rest during the weekend a bit, and take advantage of academic seasonal breaks. Don't worry. You'll do fine.

You can do it if you stay focused, organized, motivated and committed. I work full time -over 60hrs a week and i am taking ap2, micro and nutrion and so far pulling high As.

People wonder how I do it and I don't think it is rocket science. My strategy is to read something on the class every day, condense lecture notes/ power points into word documents /tables and review every day. /Also, I study for the test, the first class after the last exam, avoid study groups and take 1/2 vacation day on the day of my exam to go to the library to study.

Good luck,

How did it go with all of this? I am thinking of taking Physiology and Microbiology

in the summer together.... (NO work) but i have a kid who will be in summer camp. They are 8 weeks each, and I figure

in the summer together.... (NO work) but i have a kid who will be in summer camp. They are 8 weeks each, and I figure I can have 4-5 hours of solid studying 5 days per week and a few more hours on the weekend. I wanted to

apply in the Fall to start in the Spring.
