hi, i wanted to know are there any mdc students who know any information on the nursing program. i have all my requirements and all i need is chemistry. i am trying to apply to the accelerated program and would like to know if anyone here can give me a guide on my chances of getting in. any info will be greatly appreciated!:smiletea:

Study and readt and do ots of practice questions from ATI and other programs. Honestly I never thought that nursing school could be so hard, but it is intense. I have never been through so much because of school. Just know that you have to celebrate and relax in between exams! Do not be on stress mode all the time. Try to take it wasy and have fun when you do pass a test. Every small thing should be celebrated and enjoyed. Any free time should used to the fullest. It is intense but it is also doable. I am going into my last semester and I am very excited to be graduating in Dec. Believe me before you know it you all will be graduating too.

Did you start the transitional program, if so do you have the syllabus because I just received my acceptance letter today and I want to start studying. I would greatly appreciate it

i was accepted into the accelerated program for fall 08 with a gpa of 3.77. there are a lot of immunizations, etc., to get: two consecutive tb tests (within three months of the school start date), hep b, mmr, varicella (chicken pox....not enough to have the disease), a drug screen, a physical, current cpr (has to be valid through the entire time you're in school-i.e., not expire in the middle of a term) etc....all of which you have to pay for. my insurance refused to cover them because they are "for school"....therefore, i'm nickel-and-dime-ing it.....one test here, one test there.

speaking of tests, the reading test is pretty simple stuff if you've read anything in english recently, you should be okay.

if you have any other questions, let me know! i'll keep everyone posted as the program gets under way. :-)

Hell, I'd like to know are you in the transitional or the accelerated? If you are in the transitional, how is it? DO you have the syllabus? Thank you I would greatly appreciate any info you can give me. Thank you

Well, Dec. is almost here and just wondering any updates on your progress. You pretty much 'tell it like it is' so I always look forward to reading your posts.

Anybody else in MDC now that can give us newcomers some feedback on your experience to date?

I'd wish akspudus would make a cameo and tell us on where he is now. I'd love to know what his nursing experience is like now. Also, curious on his gpa upon graduation or any pointers about succeeding in the MDC program.

Thanx

Hi thank you for replying.

Any suggestions on what we can do to get prepared for the 1st semester? Perhaps, freshen up on A&P or Micro or basic math? Or start reading the nursing books in advance like fundamentals?

Hey guys! I'm back...sorry for the delay! My third semester has finally come to an end! Woohoo...one more semester to go! As to your question, in my opinion...if you need to freshen up on any basic math, I would say to go ahead and practice some problems...multiplying fractions, etc... but that's about it! Take advantage of the time you do have now to do things you probably won't be able to do during NS. Leave all the reading for when the actual program begins.

Since summer has started, I am taking Microbiology. Does anyone have any old books they want to sell to me?

I am also taking Microbiology this summer. Which campus and who's your professor?

Actually, I am taking it online. Professor's first name is *****. I can't remember the last name. How about you?
