The Accel program is tough, on the 1st semester you will have 21 credits vs. 11 credits on the generic. Getting in is based on GPA and classes taken. It's very competitive. I'm on my 2nd semester (generic FT) and honestly, it's not easy. You will need a good support system. It is recommended that you don't work but I have seen people who still work full-time and manage to pass their classes. Good luck!
hI pINAFL, HOPE EVERYTHING IS GOING WELL FOR YOU IN SCHOOL. I WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW THAT MDC FINALLY FIXED MY CLASSES AND IM READY TO APPLY TO THE NURSING PRGM. MY GPA IS AT 3.1. DO YOU THINK I HAVE ANY CHANCE OF GETTING IN THE PROGRAM? I WILL BE APPLYING TO THE GENERIC AND THE ACCELERATED ALSO. I WILL BE TAKING CHEMISTRY FOR THE GENERIC PART BUT THE ADVISOR TOLD ME THAT I DT NEED THE CHEMISTRY FOR ACCELERATED. BY ANY CHANCE DID YOU TAKE THE CPT TEST TO SCORE A 78%, HOW IS IT? I WILL BE TAKING IT THIS WEEK. MY PLANS ARE THAT IF I CAN GET IN THE ACCELERATED THAT LATER ON I CAN ASK TO GET IN THE GENERIC.

did you end up getting into the program?
I had a 3.3 and applied 5 times and all 5 times I was rejected. I ended up being accepted to BCC in pembroke pines. and thanks to that school I am finally an RN
MDC sucks

Getting into MDC is strictly GPA based. They are talking about implementing an entrance exam...but that is probably years away.
I applied once and got in. I had a 4.0 GPA though. For my class the lowest accepted GPA was a 3.51.
I just started my second semester. 1st semester wasn't all that hard. 2nd semester looks like its going to be a challenge.

I got accepted into the MDC nursing program for both the bridge and generic option the FIRST AND ONLY time I applied. My GPA was a 3.2. I think you stand a very good chance to get into either program (generic or accelerated) option. Also, if the accelerated option proves to be too much, you can always go to the generic program which is only one semester longer. Good luck.

hi
i graduated from MDC transitional program and took my boards march 2007..mdc was great and i still worked full time midnights in the lab at memorial
my gpa was 4.0 and i quickly learned that the 4.0 wasn't going to be there for long, and there were times i was glad i just passed..did end up with a 3.4 but i worked hard and lived at barnes and noble studying...good luck to you

i was accepted into the accelerated program for fall 08 with a gpa of 3.77. there are a lot of immunizations, etc., to get: two consecutive tb tests (within three months of the school start date), hep b, mmr, varicella (chicken pox....not enough to have the disease), a drug screen, a physical, current cpr (has to be valid through the entire time you're in school-i.e., not expire in the middle of a term) etc....all of which you have to pay for. my insurance refused to cover them because they are "for school"....therefore, i'm nickel-and-dime-ing it.....one test here, one test there.
speaking of tests, the reading test is pretty simple stuff if you've read anything in english recently, you should be okay.
if you have any other questions, let me know! i'll keep everyone posted as the program gets under way. :-)

i applied for fall with a 3.1 and was turned down. I hope you get in but my chances didnt work out. Try Nova thats where i got accepted and am applying to BCC just in case.
mdc is not a great program because they did not accept me! lol!
honest, i personally did not go thru that program-- but alot of my co-workers did - hence we live in mia!--
good luck!
you dont' need the chemistry to apply to the accelerated.....just the generic. when applying to the accelerated, transfer in only your as in natural science, if you have 15 credit hours worth......the idea is to transfer in your highest grades for gpa.
otherwise, unfortunately, there's nothing else to do.....sigh. no essays, no interviews, no "i'm a great gal".....there are schools like that out there, that take "you" into account, so if you don't get into mdc, try other ones. heck, try them all now....don't put all your eggs into one basket!

Hey Magnesium,
Congrats on getting in. I am applying to MDC accelerated for Jan 09. Do you know whether anyone got accepted with a 3.5. I am really nervous about not getting in because of my G.P.A!!
Also, I have exhausted my stafford loans. Did financial aid give you any more options as far as loans are concerned.
Thanx
