Hey everyone,
I just wanted to start a thread for people interested in the MDC nursing program for fall 2012. I think if you shared your scores (TEAS V & GPA) and what track your applying to (full-time or part-time), it will give everyone an idea of where they stand.
I will start:
I have a 3.7 GPA and an 81% on the TEAS and looking to apply for the part-time program. I have the option of taking the TEAS 2 more times which I will be doing :)
quick question regarding the nurse's kit. i have not had a chance to go to bookstore to buy one.
can anyone on here tell me if this nursing kit is the equivalent to the one they sell at bookstore?
also does it come with a stethoscope? or can do we purchase seperate?

No it is not the same! The one they sell at the bookstore includes tape, penlight, gauze, dressings, mask, some trays with syringes and stuff needed to perform tracheostomy and other things. It does not include stethoscope. We should get it from the bookstore since it has everything we'll be using in lab.
Congratulations to everyone :) I am a bit of a late bird, I just found out that I got accepted into the Accelerated Program (Full-Time) last week !!! So I am just trying to catch up with everything. I am actually watching the Orientation that I had missed on Itunes... Just wanted to see if I would be lucky enough to get to know any of my classmates prior to school starting. Hope all is well with everyone and I guess I shall be seeing you guys soon :)
heyy what was your gpa and teas score
Knowing someone's TEAS V score alone or grades alone won't tell you much, since the competetive score they use to rank applicants is weighted as 40% of your science pre-req GPA and 60% of your TEAS V score. You need to find out from advisement what the cutoff competetive score was for the last admitted classes (they still don't have a number for the current class, but scores seem to be lower).
My guess is that you could get in with a science pre-req GPA of about 3.7 and a TEAS V score in the high 70's. Without a doubt you could get in with a 4.0 GPA/80 TEAS V — in fact you'd have some margin on GPA and TEAS score.
Heads up guys, I spoke with Roger Williams from MDC who is the head ati guy there and I asked about the nursing logic and the difficulty of the tests and he explained to me that although he is aware we have not learned any of this information on the tests he still wants us to take the tests (the beginners test NOT advanced) because they want to predispose us to what it is we will be encountering during nursing school, so don't be afraid to fail they expect it, they just want us to get our feet wet prior to starting classes.
