Hello applicants! The time is coming close to finding out if we are in or not, just checking in with others. From last year's thread it seems around 8/31 we will know! Good luck all!!

Got in!!! YAY!

We have to accept the offer by 9/30. So probably soon after they will start taking ppl from the waiting list! Good luck!

Got Accepted! Woohooo!

hi all! I have also been excepted and am so so excited. Congrats to those who made it! I have already enrolled and paid the deposit. Don't give up if you didnt get in this time around!

Congrats to all accepted and to those who were denied remember one door closes and another opens. Don't give up. And to the wait listed guess I'm joining the club. Wish I had more information regarding the wait list. The waiting game begins :nailbiting::nurse:. Praying for an acceptance .

To those who got in...do you mind sharing your undergrad GPA? mine was from several years ago and 3.0. However, my GPA for prereqs (taken over the past 2 years) was 3.8, which I was hoping would help me out. I have a ton of clinical experience and also work in research at one of the Partners hospitals. 2/3 of my recs came from Partners MDs who I have worked with. Just wondering what on earth I can do to boost this app for when I re-apply! :)

Hi AEC626 - my undergrad gpa was 3.49 from Northeastern University. My prereq gpa 3.7. I actually have no prior healthcare experience - I work at a law firm. Definitely reapply - it sounds like you have a strong application. I wonder if you could meet with someone from admissions to determine what you could do to improve your chances. Best of luck!

Thanks cathleen89. Yes, I have to say I felt confident, even though my original GPA was lower than their usual applicant. It feels like a bit of a blow in terms of being rejected and not even wait-listed. The letter says that they "are not able to discuss your individual application or reasons for the decision" so that is really tough- I would jump at the chance to know how I could improve my chances for the next round. I am going to try and find out more at an info session...good luck with the program!

Hi-- I had a 3.37 undergrad GPA, but a 4.0 GPA for my pre-reqs. I also am not in the medical field. I work in Human Resources.

AEC626, I am a current student at IHP into my 3rd semester in the program. My undergrad and prereqs GPA was similar to yours. From my experience with my classmates, IHP is not just about GPA. You need to really SELL yourself in your essay; display growth, leadership, collaborative spirit and shows understanding of the nursing profession . I would also ensure the letters of recommendations are strong. If I were in your shoes and really wanted to attend the school next May I would get in touch with admission for feedback on your application. Not sure if you are in Boston, you may want to attend one of their info session in other to get a face to face with the admission team. Best of luck. You will get in the next term

I had a 3.2 GPA and a 3.7 perquisite GPA. I have been an EMT for 8years only a quarter of it being full time, the rest as a volunteer EMT. Also just upgraded my emt license a year prior to the level below a paramedic, an AEMT. I shadowed RNs, NPs, and PAs for like 4 hours each before deciding. Since I has been out of school for 4 years and didn't have a professor to write my recs, I asked my recommenders to specifically mention what kind of learner I was based on our continuing education classes. Hope this helps!!

If I can add one other thing... I don't know what it was that factored into admissions decision to accept me into the program, but I do know that when I got rejected by Curry this year I was SO upset... and like you I was killing myself trying to figure out what I did (or didn't do) that caused me to go directly to the "reject" pile. So when I applied to MGH, the only thing I really had to argue my case was the essay. So I went back to that. And I wrote it and re-wrote it and re-wrote it again. I agonized over it and really did all I could to answer the question they asked about the role of the nurse today while at the same time try to convince the MGH Admissions team how badly I wanted this. I don't know if it worked, but I did get in, so maybe? Let people read your essay-- people you trust. People in the field if you can. It's the one place you can really truly sell yourself and all you bring to the table. Don't give up hope!! You can do it!
