MGH IHP Direct Entry NP 2015

Hi folks! I couldn't find a post about the 2015 application cycle and I'm interested to see how other people are feeling about it. Since so many other schools have November deadlines, I've already finished up my MGH app (save my letters...) and submitted it.

I'm going after the psych direct-entry NP program. One of the nurses I work with had been in their NP program and recommended it very strongly. My own NP went to Yale and, weirdly enough, told me she hated Yale and wished she went to MGH. She then raved about all the MGH NPs she works with and how great they are. I'm applying to Yale anyway, since who knows what might happen, but I am reeeeeally hoping to get in!

They ask if you've worked for any Partners hospitals...anyone know if this actually affects your chances? Or what the estimated acceptance rates are by program?

I agree. Btw, where did yall go to undergrad?

I'm a local: UMass Lowell. Did all my pre-reqs at a nearby community college.

Cool. I am also local. I actually live in Charlestown, two minte walk from the institute. Umass Amherst is my Alma mater.

I hate to say it, but I am predicting that all of this snow might prolong hearing from admissions. I am guessing they had multiple snow days with these blizzards. Hopefully it won't be too much longer of a wait, though!

This semester has been in session for 17 days, 7 have been snow days!

Hi, I am new to the forum. I got into the ABSN program and got the MGH institute's full scholarship. My first choice for nursing school was Columbia and my second choice was UPenn. I was rejected by Columbia, but got into UPenn. I'll probably go to UPenn, but the full scholarship from MGH is honestly somewhat hard to turn down.

@epicurus1982. Congrats on getting into upenn and MGH! When did you hear from MGH might I ask? I know a lot of us are waiting on east coast schools to send out information! Ps congrats on the full scholarship! That's awesome!

Congrats on getting the full MGH scholarship! UPenn is an amazing school, though. I wonder how easy it is to go straight into an NP program if you do a BSN-only program at another school?

The Accelerated program starts in the summer and they have already sent acceptance letters. I know people who were wailisted for that program. They haven't sent any notification for the direct entry program which is the program the majority of us applied to.

Nope! I believe they will release all decisions the same day.

Hello all, I have been looking all over for a thread like this one! Glad to have finally found it.

I am waiting for news from MGH and was also accepted to BC's FNP program last week... Yay! I was wondering if you or blackskimmer were awarded any scholarships for BC? I read about some people being offered scholarships in past years, but had yet to hear anything for the upcoming year.

I hope the wait for news from MGH is short... I don't know how much longer I can wait!
