MGH IHP Direct Entry NP 2015

U.S.A. Massachusetts

Published

Hi folks! I couldn't find a post about the 2015 application cycle and I'm interested to see how other people are feeling about it. Since so many other schools have November deadlines, I've already finished up my MGH app (save my letters...) and submitted it.

I'm going after the psych direct-entry NP program. One of the nurses I work with had been in their NP program and recommended it very strongly. My own NP went to Yale and, weirdly enough, told me she hated Yale and wished she went to MGH. She then raved about all the MGH NPs she works with and how great they are. I'm applying to Yale anyway, since who knows what might happen, but I am reeeeeally hoping to get in!

They ask if you've worked for any Partners hospitals...anyone know if this actually affects your chances? Or what the estimated acceptance rates are by program?

How are you guys dealing with the anxiety? I just want to know. :?

Obsessively checking AllNurses in my downtime to see if anyone has heard anything. That and crocheting. I still have to finish A&P 2 so I'll be busy with that in a few weeks.

I convince myself that if I don't get in anywhere this year, I will spend the next year relaxing, doing worthwhile work, and learning more in preparation for NP school so I'll do an even better job in school. That sounds so nice, some days I'm on the fence about whether I want to start school in the fall.

Just know that there's nothing else you can do about your admission status. You've completed all the requirements and now fate is in the hands of the committee!

And if you don't get in, use the next year to strengthen your résumé and skills!

Like snoozyd, obsessively checking all nurses.com. Haha. And like BlackSkimmer, coming up with a plan B. If I don't get into an NP program for the fall, I will apply to a school in my state to get my BSN. That or wait until January to apply to other BSN programs. I am also talking out my anxiety with my boyfriend. He is a good sounding board for all of my worries and plans for the future.

I have been dealing with the anxiety by constantly reminding myself that I put everything that I had into each application and that it is simply out of my hands at this point. Basically I have been coping by adopting a 'leave it all on the field' mentality. I also guilty of checking the forum every few days for updates.

Guys!!!!! I couldn't resist so I called them just now and they told me to check in later this week. the 8 week period is around the corner so that may be true.

I think that's what they told Snoozy a few weeks ago as well...sounds like a pretty generic response by this point lol The 26th is that 8 week point so perhaps you're right? Let's hope!!

Yeah it makes more sense now because they said 4-8 weeks. So it could be at the end of this week or next week

This seems to be decision crunch time! It would be very nice indeed if they got them out this week. Does MGH include scholarship info with their letters? Or will admitted students have to wait to see what kind of aid the school can give?

Waiting is hard anyway but it's even harder when you need to make a final decision about where to go and deposit deadlines are coming up!

Just got that email! We find out today at 6pm!!!!!!!!
