Hi folks! I couldn't find a post about the 2015 application cycle and I'm interested to see how other people are feeling about it. Since so many other schools have November deadlines, I've already finished up my MGH app (save my letters...) and submitted it.
I'm going after the psych direct-entry NP program. One of the nurses I work with had been in their NP program and recommended it very strongly. My own NP went to Yale and, weirdly enough, told me she hated Yale and wished she went to MGH. She then raved about all the MGH NPs she works with and how great they are. I'm applying to Yale anyway, since who knows what might happen, but I am reeeeeally hoping to get in!
They ask if you've worked for any Partners hospitals...anyone know if this actually affects your chances? Or what the estimated acceptance rates are by program?

MGH is a pretty great program, especially for psych, although all of the programs are good. Very great clinical placements in Boston. I do know the exact acceptance rate BUT it's best not to know. Just dont worry about it! Prepare your app and wait and see. I do not think it affects your application if you have worked for Partners, but it also doesn't hurt. It's always nice to have people familiar with the system, but at the same time they take students form all over the nation. Yale is obviously a great school, but just keep in mind they do not grant a BSN. Is it a big deal? I'm not sure, there's some debate whether it matters or not. You can make up your own mind. I'm sure you'll get a good experience at either program.

I'm applying for this program as well! I am not sure if I'm able to get in because I don't have healthcare licenses, just direct patient care volunteer experience :/
I don't have any healthcare licenses either, but I don't think that should be expected for the direct-entry program. Which specialty are you applying for?
FNP! It was expected for the U of Rochester Entry Masters program- even though it wasn't listed on the website. I had sent my application in that morning when I had received a reply email stating that disappointing piece of info.
Anyhoo, what speciality are you applying to? And what other programs? Are you out of state?
Ugh, seriously? Rochester's whole application was such a mess. Rochester "never received" portions of my application but I know for sure things they say were missing were included in my packet. The admissions rep either gave useless answers or never replied to my questions about things or if I could re-submit documents. I'd cut them some slack but every other school I applied to has been good about letting me know if I'm still missing things, and what my application status is. I'm not exactly surprised to hear they pulled that for the FNP track.
Aside from MGH and Rochester, I have applied for psych/mental health at Yale, Vanderbilt and Columbia (sounds ritzy, but it's really because they all had the same pre-reqs). I currently live and work in Boston and managed to get to an info session a few months ago. What about you, are you local? Did you apply to any other programs in the area? I checked a few of them out but I'd need a few more pre-reqs to apply to the other Boston schools.

I'm a little late to this thread, but I thought I'd chime in nonetheless. I applied to MGH for the FNP track. I've also applied to Vanderbilt, Simmons, and Seattle University.

That's really frustrating. I had planned on applying to Rochester but decided against it because we wouldn't be able to move out there in time.

So I've been stalking the threads of the past and it seems that decisions are sent on around Valentine's Day. And interviews are on a need basis.
I haven't submitted my application yet! Thank god December has 31 days!!

Awesome, thanks for checking that out. I was worried it might not be until March. Good luck getting your application all done in time!

I applied to BC, Simmons, and MGH. Glad to hear MGH sends decisions in early to mid-Feb. I understand BC sends decisions early, too. Anyone know what Simmons does? Thanks.

I submitted my application exactly on Jan 1st. Hope this won't hurt my application.
