MGH IHP Direct Entry NP 2015

Published

Hi folks! I couldn't find a post about the 2015 application cycle and I'm interested to see how other people are feeling about it. Since so many other schools have November deadlines, I've already finished up my MGH app (save my letters...) and submitted it.

I'm going after the psych direct-entry NP program. One of the nurses I work with had been in their NP program and recommended it very strongly. My own NP went to Yale and, weirdly enough, told me she hated Yale and wished she went to MGH. She then raved about all the MGH NPs she works with and how great they are. I'm applying to Yale anyway, since who knows what might happen, but I am reeeeeally hoping to get in!

They ask if you've worked for any Partners hospitals...anyone know if this actually affects your chances? Or what the estimated acceptance rates are by program?

I just got an e-mail a couple of hours ago notifying me application was processed and sent for review. Of course the first word in the subject line is 'Congratulations' which led to severe disappointment upon opening the e-mail.

lols i had the same reaction also.

guess we just have to wait it out..

Me too! I read "CONGRATULATIONS," and thought I'd been accepted. Then realized they were congratulating me for meeting the minimum standard for consideration.

I applied to Simmons, Salem State, MGH IHP, and Umass. I got a call from Umass today and they scheduled me for an interview for Thursday! So nervous! Anyone else hear about interviews yet? I saw last year they gave out interview questions but I didn't get any in the email I receive from them confirming the interview...

Lulu,

I applied to Simmons and MGH but haven't heard anything back from either of them. I've been accepted to Vanderbilt though so I'm not really sweating it. Unless either Boston school gives me a 100% ride I think I'm Vandy bound.

MGH will email acceptances within three weeks, probably two, while all of the emails will come on the same day they may not come at the same time, probably in the morning. So don't freak out if you haven't heard and someone else has, it'll be there.

Good luck with the interview Lulu! I'll sit here staring at my phone now for the rest of the day in hopes they call me for one as well.

Did you get your financial aid packet from Vandy? Still waiting on mine :nailbiting: From what I understand, MGH's financial aid is pretty weak. It might only be worth it if you're one of the few that nabs a scholarship. Simmons, on the other hand, is a bigger institution and could have more money to give out. I guess we'll see in a few weeks!

They sent me a breakdown of expenses with my acceptance letter. They said that I had been selected for a scholarship but until they have their 2015 budget done they could only guarantee a $4500 award. It's not much but it's better than nothing.

3 weeks from today? Online it says they send out decisions within 8-10 weeks of the deadline soo that would be like late february/early march right?

They probably say that to cover themselves in case they fall behind in the process. Who knows, maybe they got fewer applications than expected this year? Heck, at UMass Worcester's info session they said they call for interviews in February, but they've already started calling some people!
