  1. No problem. I was accepted at UMass Med and MGH. Still waiting to hear from Vermont and Simmons. I honestly don't know if they call with no's because it seemed like a strange call. My undergrad GPA was weak due to just never bothering to try and getting by using my intelligence. Apart from that I was told by UMass and MGH that the rest of my application was stellar which is why they overlooked the GPA. I got the feeling this Dean wanted me in the program but was vetoed by the rest of the admissions committee. In addition to all that I had a Dean at Simmons reach out a month ago asking for an explanation of my undergrad GPA since she wanted to vouch for my candidacy to the program.
  2. I got a personal phone call from one of the Deans yesterday to tell me it was a no.
  3. Much better casual music scene in Nashville! That would definitely swing it for me.
  4. Great question! I found this year's academic calendar and they started on August 11th. However, I've called asking about that and other things and have been told everything will be finalized just before our orientation. My guess is that we'll start August 10th this year.
  5. Nice! How did they let you know?
  6. Sorry about that! I figured it would give me an alert of some kind that people requested to join, it did not.
  7. Made a group! Just search "UMass Med GEP Class of 2020" on facebook and request to join.
  8. Hey humtechnurse, the committee meets on Thursdays, but I'm not sure if it's every week or every other, I've read and heard both. They did call me to let me know I was accepted the Thursday after my interview and my fiancée just sent me a message letting me know my admissions packet was delivered today. I can create a facebook group a little later tonight after my hockey game if folks are interested in one.
  9. Hey bostonhopeful, I didn't apply for that track, but I did get into MGH and UMass for acute care. I think a big plus my application had was work experience in the OR of one of the major Partners hospitals. On top of that my personal statement was baller. I think the best thing you can do for yourself is work on your personal statement more than anything else since that's the one place where you can truly separate yourself from every other candidate.
  10. I'm still waiting to hear from 3 schools, but I was lucky to be accepted to my top choice at UMass Med. I think the biggest thing to think about is where MGH ranks in your school choices and then consider if you can afford giving a deposit to them knowing that you may still choose to go elsewhere. For example, if MGH is your #2 school and you have the extra $500, I'd pay the deposit just for peace of mind. But if it's your #5 school and you've already been accepted to #2, 3, and 4, I'd say keep the $500 and consider paying the deposit for another school while you wait to hear from others.
  11. Open House is on the 28th for accepted students. Hope to meet some folks there!
  12. They're Vermonters. They're probably too busy hitting up Hill Farmstead for some growlers and hitting the slopes on all of these powder days from the last month. They'll probably let us know by October.
  13. Based on my friend in the program now it's roughly ~110k for tuition and then living expenses on top of that.
  14. Mine says I got into the track I applied to (acute), but maybe for some folks they accepted them just not for their intended track?
  15. I got in, but barring a major scholarship offer, I'm heading to the U.
