  1. Hi everyone! I received my acceptance email at 7:45 this morning and couldn't be happier! For others who are wondering about my background, I am currently a senior at Boston College studying sociology. My overall GPA is 3.7, major GPA is a 3.85 and my prereq GPA is around a 3.75 (I have two more prereqs to take over the summer). I have been a volunteer at a local nursing home for the past six months, a Resident Assistant for freshmen students, a volunteer at a domestic violence unit at a nearby courthouse, and highly involved with the student admissions organization throughout my time at BC. I have my A&P II final in a few hours and this seriously couldn't have been a better time to find out I was accepted to NYU! Congratulations to everyone who has been accepted thus far and good luck to everyone still waiting!!!
  2. I received my acceptance letter yesterday:) so excited! Im not positive I will be attending but at least the deposit isn't due until next month so I've got some time to decide. Financing the program will definitely be a big factor. Hopefully everyone will find out good news soon!
  3. Hello! I'm writing this post in hopes of gaining further insight/advice about ABSN vs. master direct entry programs. I'm currently a senior undergraduate student studying sociology. I'm just about finished with my pre request courses (still need to take chem and microbio this summer before I begin a nursing program in the fall). I have applied to 6 schools, all of which are different types of programs. The programs are the following: 1) northeastern university's master's direct entry program (I would obtain both a BSN and a MSN- would be an adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner after graduating/ passing board exams), 2) George Washington University's ABSN program, 3) Georgetown University's clinical nurse leader program (would receive a msn only), 4) Villanova University's ABSN program, 5) University of Rochester's ABSN program, 6) NYU's ABSN program. So far I've been accepted into Northeastern, GW, and Georgetown, and am still awaiting a response from the other three. All of the programs that I have been accepted into thus far are three very different types of programs, and I really don't know what direction to head towards. Since I am still an undergraduate student and haven't had any clinical experience or really any direct patient care experience (I did volunteer in a nursing home for quite some time which is why I know I want to work with the elderly population), Im worried I may not be ready for a MSN program or to start out in the field as a NP. However, I believe I ultimately want to be a NP so my thinking is why not get the education done all at once while I'm still in the academic mode. Then I go back thinking why not just get the BSN, work for a little to get the experience/earn some money, then go back for the MSN. I dont know if this makes sense or not, but I was hoping to get some advice from people who have gone through a similar debate before. I really appreciate any insight you can give because this is a really tough decision for me and I have to start putting down deposited soon (scary)!! But thank you, I really appreciate it!!!
  4. Just an update: I logged onto my portal today and saw that a decision has been made and the notification has been sent. I'll probably receive a letter in the mail by the end of this week! Best of luck to everyone!
  5. Yay welcome! I'm getting anxious to hear as well, the wait is driving me nuts haha. But good news! I emailed the program director to see where they were in the process and she said they are hoping to mail decisions by April 15 for the alternate sequence. Hopefully this is true, because that is next week:)
  6. Hey talfan and CHBlake, I think I'll be attending the admitted students day as well! Hoping for the best for everyone still waiting to hear.
  7. Yay congrats!! I just found out I got in as well:)
  8. I got an email at 1:22 pm today saying I was accepted into the program! So excited! Congrats to all that have been accepted so far and good luck to everyone still waiting =)
  9. Thanks for the update minddoong! I received an email from the school letting me know my application was forwarded to the admissions committee for review on 3/17. Hopefully the decision emails are sent out sooner rather than later! I don't know if I can wait another four weeks haha.
  10. Does anyone know when the deadline to accept/decline is?
  11. Congrats to all that have been accepted! I was wondering if you got an email when your decision was ready? I just received an email that said "Thank you for applying to the Bouvé Graduate School at Northeastern University. A decision regarding your application has been reached. Please login in to your application to view this decision. An official letter will be mailed to the address provided on your application." However, when I logged onto my portal it didn't have a decision. I was just curious if this happened to anyone else. Thanks!
  12. Hello everyone! I didn't see a thread for Villanova's ABSN or Alternate Sequence program for Fall 2015, and thought I'd start one! Feel free to post anything about yourself or the program. Thanks and good luck to all!
  13. Hi all! I also applied to the program and am anxiously awaiting a response (haven't heard back from any programs yet so I guess this has something to do with it haha). Does anyone know when decisions will be available? I know it says april on the website somewhere but was curious if this meant early or late April. Thanks!
  14. The faculty member who interviewed me was very friendly and made it more like a conversation. We talked about why I wanted to attend Northeastern, why I was interested in adult/gerontology care, my experiences, etc. She said we should hear back at the beginning of March (I think they're also behind because the school has had multiple snow days in the past few weeks), but hopefully sooner!
  15. I went in last week for an interview for adult acute care
