Hi folks! I couldn't find a post about the 2015 application cycle and I'm interested to see how other people are feeling about it. Since so many other schools have November deadlines, I've already finished up my MGH app (save my letters...) and submitted it.
I'm going after the psych direct-entry NP program. One of the nurses I work with had been in their NP program and recommended it very strongly. My own NP went to Yale and, weirdly enough, told me she hated Yale and wished she went to MGH. She then raved about all the MGH NPs she works with and how great they are. I'm applying to Yale anyway, since who knows what might happen, but I am reeeeeally hoping to get in!
They ask if you've worked for any Partners hospitals...anyone know if this actually affects your chances? Or what the estimated acceptance rates are by program?
Nice! Thanks for the insider scoopI planned a vacation for early February partly to distract myself from admissions stuff, but now it looks like it could be a good time to either celebrate admissions or cushion the blows of rejection!
ME TOO!!! Boston-->Cancun on the 14th for 10 days-- hopefully a celebratory trip, but we'll see! Either way, something to look forward to. Have a great time!
The admissions committee was meeting later that day and I guess that is when they decide. It just so happened that my interview was right before the meeting, so I had a really quick turn around on a decision. Not sure how often they meet (every Thursday or every other Thursday?). Hope that helps!
Hi all,
I am anxiously anticipating hearing back from MGH IHP's DEN program starting in fall 2015 as well! I finished all of the prerequisites. Am currently taking Chemistry 2 in case I do not get in to MGH and need to apply to other places with different prerequisite courses. I considered applying to the Accelerated BSN program at MGH as well, but realized that I could not apply to both programs. I am wondering for everyone applying to direct-entry NP programs why you chose a direct entry NP program as opposed to an accelerated BSN? It sounds like it would be possible to work part-time as an RN in a 3 year direct entry program, but it is interesting that it is not a requirement that you have a BSN before getting your MSN. From what I have seen, working as an RN and as an MSN are two different jobs entirely. I feel like I have done a significant amount of coursework towards the BSN already. Chem 2 is the final prerequisite needed for the Accelerated BSN program at the college where I have been taking my prerequisites, so that will probably be my route in case I do not get into MGH's Direct Entry program. Anyway, keep me updated if people know when we will be hearing decisions. Can't wait to hear something!!!

It'll be early February for MGH. I'm certain.
