MGH IHP Direct Entry NP 2015

U.S.A. Massachusetts

Published

Hi folks! I couldn't find a post about the 2015 application cycle and I'm interested to see how other people are feeling about it. Since so many other schools have November deadlines, I've already finished up my MGH app (save my letters...) and submitted it.

I'm going after the psych direct-entry NP program. One of the nurses I work with had been in their NP program and recommended it very strongly. My own NP went to Yale and, weirdly enough, told me she hated Yale and wished she went to MGH. She then raved about all the MGH NPs she works with and how great they are. I'm applying to Yale anyway, since who knows what might happen, but I am reeeeeally hoping to get in!

They ask if you've worked for any Partners hospitals...anyone know if this actually affects your chances? Or what the estimated acceptance rates are by program?

At least it's only $200, that's not bad at all really. Some schools want a non-refundable $1000 deposit which is Grade A malarkey!

I'm definitely fortunate, you're right! Maybe that's why they're so uninterested in doling out deposit extensions. I keep going back and forth between "$200 isn't bad!" and then "oh jeez I'm gonna be grad school broke soon enough, would be nice to have that $200 for anything else." BUT $200 for peace of mind until hearing back from MGH and others? Not too shabby. Hopefully you guys aren't going to have to throw down big deposits while waiting to hear from other schools.

I had to throw down a $1000 deposit for Regis and they ask for another $1000 late March so I'm really hoping to hear from Northeastern and MGH before then.

AHHH! That's totally nuts!

Jeez, that combined with not liking the overall feel of Regis and their tuition being out of site is why I decided not to apply there.

Woah! That's the deposit?!?

Anyone hear anything yet? Also getting restless here and wondering what's taking so long at this point since all other schools have sent out admission decisions for the most part.

Not really... 90% of the Boston/East Cost schools have not. Next week will probably be a big decisions week for a lot of schools.

I haven't heard anything yet. I applied to UVM, Umass, MGH (my top choice), and northeastern. I constantly check my email and this thread for updates! Anticipation is killing me! I wish everyone luck!!

MGH got back to me to say that they aren't done yet but I should check in again next week.

I think last year MGH sent out decisions on the 12th... so next week sounds about right. Best of luck.

@kred I am feeling anxious as well. Based on last years forum, applicants received decisions on February 12th. Given that information, I have been trying not to let it consume me. :) Best of luck to everyone!

I got accepted to BC! FNP track. Their deadline for a decision is March 23 and the deposit is $400. FYI.
