MGH Direct-Entry Nursing 2014

Published

I just sent in my application for MGH Direct-Entry Nursing 2014 and I was hoping to get in touch with other applicants. I applied for the Adult-Gerontology Acute Care NP. The wait is going to kill me! I'm wondering about other people's backgrounds (GPA, GRE scores, experience, etc.) and if anyone has an idea of who MGH accepts. Look forward to hearing from you!

I donot think i would take these comments much into consideration. Everyone has their own experience. There are hardly 5 to 6 reviews. And hundreds of students graduate from MGH from each field of study and only few feedbacks against so i wouldnt even considerthem representing the entire institution. This is Biased voluntary sampling lol. Anyone can have a bad experience anywhere. It can be coz of there own issues or behavior too. About helping the faculty with some updated new equipment or. Computer technical stuff is a joke. Lol i mean what s wrong in helping a senior person in becoming familiar with any hi tech thing if they couldnt do it. I would say i know people not personally but through my husbands clinic who graduated from mgh and they were super happy. And even celebrated for me that you are lucky to get into such an amazing institute!! So i would say whoever is doubtful about the reputation should not even get bothered by these few reviews!! Enjoy and be happy. Atleast i am thankful for being accepted.

I am creating a fb group for mghihp den msn 2014 anyone whose interested should pm me the fb name or id so i can add up there.!! Ppl who are sure they going to mgh:))))

I live in East Somerville, on the border with Charlestown. It's a relatively inexpensive neighborhood by Boston standards and significantly cheaper than the (literal) other side of the tracks in Charlestown. It looks a little seedy and has a matching reputation historically, but it is actually very safe. It's one bus, no transfers from Sullivan Station to the Navy Yard. Just throwing it out there if people are looking for neighborhood options.

Thanks autumnrain! I've realized that I couldn't see most of the links and information on the MGHIHP website is because I always viewed it on my phone. So lame. I'm gonna hop on my laptop later today and do some more research. :)

NS14, I came upon that page also. It was concerning but I think most of the negative reviews were from years ago. I'm assuming by now that they must have worked out all the kinks.

Val_lew, I googled "MGHIHP nursing orientation" and I found a few PDFs and pages on the orientation booklets just to get a gist of the campus and the program itself. Although the information is from 2013-2014, our booklet should still have the same information. I will edit this later and provide the link since I'm on my phone right now.

Thank you everyone for all the helpful information!!! :)

@sanamax For sure it is only a few reviews and every program has pro and cons! I would like to hear all pros and cons of what people have to say so that I can determine which program will work best for me. I am by no means trying to diminish the program, simply investigating and doing as thorough and extensive research as I can..good and bad..on account that I will be investing my life and money into it for the next few years. Beyond thankful and grateful for each opportunity but in order want to make the best decision for me, I must sift through it all ! :)

For all on the waitlist: I am most likely giving up my spot/declining. Acute care speandlty. Best of luck to all of you!!!

In case you are curious, I am deciding between Columbia and Yale (decisions will be released next Friday). MGH didn't offer me any scholarship money at all, not even a small scholarship. The ivys have better $$ packages, almost everyone gets something, even if it's just a little it's better than nothing. The other reason is I know, for sure, Boston will not be my forever home. I know there are many Boston natives on this thread, some are on the waitlist... I hope my spot goes to you :) Cheers!

NS14: No worries! I am doing the exact same thing these past few days - going through tons of old threads, googling up reviews, researching cities, looking up youtube tour videos... it's good to have all the information before making such a huge commitment yeah? : ) Especially if you'd be moving across the country like me!

Anyway, as for admitted students day, I got a reply from admissions:

"We will forward your inquiry to the School of Nursing for their review and response. We understand dates are being planned for accepted students day but the SON have the details to share with you."

Guess we'll just have to wait and see... ;)
