I just sent in my application for MGH Direct-Entry Nursing 2014 and I was hoping to get in touch with other applicants. I applied for the Adult-Gerontology Acute Care NP. The wait is going to kill me! I'm wondering about other people's backgrounds (GPA, GRE scores, experience, etc.) and if anyone has an idea of who MGH accepts. Look forward to hearing from you!
Trying to decide between MGH and NEU hybrid direct entry programs as well! Having some difficulty deciding. I got accepted to the adult/gerontology primary care track. Does anyone know what the class/lab/clinical schedule is set up? I'm guessing it's most days Monday-Friday. Just trying to figure out if I can work while class is in session.
Hi mikey congrats on being accepted at both. I also applied two both but my top preference is MGH in comparison to hybrid at neu. Due to the fact its one of the best programs in anew England for Den MSN. Hybrid neu is a newer program and iv heard from some ppl that its quite unorganized. If it would be between on campus neu and Mgh then it would have been difficult to decide as far as i personally think. But it all depends how is ur financial situation and preferences. Whether or not u are willing and go through the application process again for MSN. As hybrid only offers masters in administrative, neonatal or psych. They do give degree and require co-op after passing nclex and rn portion. Which u might be interested in for earning. But again ull have to be really organized urself as its hybrid.
Best regards
I called the MGH admissions office and they said that there would be an admitted students day, but not until after the deposit is due. Which isn't very helpful for those of us trying to make a decision. I sent an email with a couple questions (especially about the number of clinical hours included in the program) but haven't heard back yet.
Hey AutumnRain,
If you live locally and know someone in the school, you can presumably go whenever, and have your friend show you around. Through some networking I did, a friend's somewhat-friend in the ABSN program will be giving me a tour this friday. While she won't know in the in's and out's of the DE program, she will know the land of the school, some professors, various clinical placements, vacation times, daily schedules, etc. If you are interested, I say go as soon as you can!
Also, does anyone know how many people applied to MGH and how many of us were accepted? (I know it doesn't matter, it's just one of those things, I'd really like to know!)
NS14: Thanks for the tip! Unfortunately, I'm from out of state and don't know any current students who can give me a tour. I'm planning to visit the Boston & NY area during the first week of March though, and am hoping one of MGH's staff can give me a tour (I'll try calling later). If it isn't too much trouble for you, can you please let us know how it goes on Friday (such as how the facilities are, what the schedule is like, and any other info that you might think is useful)?
I am also going to check out the campus on Friday (I don't know anyone there or even if the building is locked, lol, but I figure I can at least walk around a bit and see how long the commute will be. I don't know Charlestown at all). I'll call admissions tomorrow and see if I can make plans to talk to anyone then.
