I am posting this because it seems like nothing has been posted about Mercy since 2009-2011. I live in Michigan, but have been looking into the ADN program (nights/weekends) at Mercy. I work full-time and would like to remain employed while in nursing school. I am looking for anyone who has recently completed the program, what it was like, if you would recommend it, and if anyone is looking to apply to the 2015 school year (specifically anyone from Michigan). Thank you for your help and responses!

I'm from Michigan also and would like to know too. Tmccormi25 have you been to an info session yet? I read the evening program is 10 semesters!

I know a handful of people who completed it. They were able to find jobs fairly easily, especially within the Mercy system because they hire their own. However, the people who failed out and went to the program I was in generally complained about unfair grading tactics but then the people who failed out of the program I was in usually went to would transfer to Mercy so I don't know if I truly believe the unfair grading techniques. A lot of people would transfer between the two programs. It's also more expensive.
Owens has a semi-night/online option. It starts at 5 pm and is just outside of Toledo (like five minutes). The clinicals start at 3 pm or 7 am and sometimes the only clinicals they can get are on weekends. I think Owens has a tuition agreement with Monroe County if you live in that county.
I have not attended an info session yet, and I am starting to look into their BSN program as well, only because I know a BSN will probably look better and allow me to look into areas of critical care. I recently sent my transcripts to their advisor, and am waiting to hear back from them once they get and review them.

Does anyone know what is their cut off GPA? Any entrance exam for ADN OR BSN? I will be transferring from WCCCD and I do have all most of their prerequisites.

I've also heard about the unfair grading tactics placed on students. I know of a person who flunked out of the program because she was one percent off of the required percentage needed to pass
I got accepted into the Mercy of Toledo BSN program? anyone been in the program ? I am so nervous . please help.

I'm graduating the BSN program May 1st and I'm confident in saying that the overall program prepares you a lot. But mostly you will learn a lot more in clinicals. That's at least where I absorbed the most aside from just the intense studying. I was just offered an ER/Trauma RN position at St. V's this past week given that I pass the NCLEX. My advice to you as soon as you can, get into an extern position at one of the hospitals. That gets your foot in the door right away. I extern in the ER and have learned more there than in the classrooms. I'm from Michigan as well. Ask around about the professors cause each one has their own style. Any more questions feel free to ask! And congrats on getting in! Lots of hard work ahead but you'll feel the rewards.
Thank you so much for replying staormina and Congratulations! I am going to the Orientation on Wednesday. Did you live in Toledo or drove back and forth ? Any recommendations about where to live that is affordable?? I don't kmoe know one there and I want to
Move there . Thank you for your help and congrats to you again !
I lived at home and drove back and forth. I live right near 75 so it was only about 20-25 min drive so it wasn't too bad. I've heard the apartments next to the school are alright but there are a bunch of places, apartments near university of Toledo are open too. Just gotta do some research.

nina, check out their website for all the information, but the basics are:
~2.7 high school GPA or college GPA.
~If no college credits, you need a composite ACT score of 21 (20 in math, 19 in science) or an SAT score of 1575+.
~You must have certain courses completed (English, math, and science courses). Algebra I, Chemistry, and Biology must have been competed in the last 7 years with a C or better (B or better is preferred).
Their website doesn't say anything about when they accept applications, but it sounds like it's year round. I'm applying to the Youngstown program and they said some students were already accepted (months ago) and some prospective students will still be doing pre-reqs during the summer. I was told that there was no cut off date (for the Youngstown campus) since there were spots available, but suggested to get them in asap to have a chance at getting a spot.
I would also call their admissions office with any questions. I have been in contact with them for a few months regarding my application process, and I've found them to be very helpful.
