The nursing program looking rather short.
Has anyone attended this school? Is it good, bad, okay??
I sent an email and heard back from her a few days later. I will be meeting with someone the second week of May. I've made a Dr's appt. to get all of my vac's done and for my doc to sign off on everything for this month. I'm not really sure when we need to have all of that in. Guess proactive never hurts...:)
I had my Dr's appt last week, just waiting on the titer results. I haven't heard a response from her yet, I sent e-mails and left a vmail. I guess I just have to wait, I'm getting nervous...
For anyone already in the program for days. I'm starting in the fall, and I'm wondering how many days I will be there per week. I already have all my ENG, NUT, and 1 PSY class. I know I will need to take AP1 first semester. Should I plan on being there 3 days? I have no idea what the schedule is like. Since I already have some of my other classes completed, can I take some others first semester? I dont' want to burn myself out if I don't need to!
Sreed you can look at the course schedule on their website if you havent already and get a feel for what your schedule will look like. Here's the link: http://www.mercycollege.edu/course-schedules/

I think its weird that you havent heard from her yet. I already had my advising appointment on the 25th of March. When I emailed her to set up my appointment she responded to me the exact same day. I also emailed her a couple other times and each time she got back with me either the same day or the following day...
Hey! I have a quick question for those already in the program... Do you think it would be beneficial for me to take a pharmacology class this summer? I'll be starting in the BSN program in the fall, but there is 2 semesters of pharm already in the program. Would it make sense to take it this summer just to get a heads up or would it make sense to take an easier class in place of pharm so I wont have such a tough load this summer?
You shouldn't need any extra than what is required in the BSN program.
Ok, I need advice from those of you who are at Mercy or went to Mercy.
As said before I was accepted to their BSN program, which is 3 yrs. Recently I have been rethinking my decision to attend their BSN program because to me, 3 yrs is a very long time especially since I just finished 4 yrs of schooling.
So, I spoke with someone at Mercy and asked if it would be possible for me to transfer to the ADN program instead, but I was told that all the programs are already full and that there are long waitlists so I most likely wouldnt get into the ADN program because so far no one seems to be giving up their spots.
But I was also accepted to an ADN program in Cincinnati and have been contemplating attending their program instead.
So I guess my question is this:
Do you think it would be better for me to just stick out the 3 yrs at Mercy? Or would it make more sense to attend the ADN program in Cinci and do the RN-BSN online after?
I already know what Im leaning towards but I usually make better decisions when I've heard what other people think and their reasoning behind it.
Honestly, I would go for the BSN. I wanted to just do my 2 years and get it over with too. But the job market seems to be leaning towards more BSN nurses lately, especially if you want to do ICU. Now I dont mean to say you wont get hired without an ADN, but if you dont want to be a floor nurse forever get a BSN.
Also, the dilemma I'm facing is, now that I have graduated I dont want to go back to school again to get my BSN, although I'm going too anyway, it just kinda stinks knowing if I would've thought about it more I could've done another year and then I would be done!
To make a long story short, if you know you want a BSN,kust do it sooner rather than later and Mercy is a great school. I loved it there.
I agree w/ LoveANurse. If you're able to knock out the BSN right away i'd do it. Like she said, jobs are scarce right now and hospitals can afford to be choosey. If there are plenty of qualified BSN grads out there, they're going to get first pick. I have classmate that works as a PCT at UTMC and they told her that she shouldn't even bother applying for nursing spots there when she graduates because they're pretty much only hiring BSN grads right now because they have so many applicants.
Unfortunately for me I had to do ADN because I really needed the nights/weekends program. The thought of going back to school again as soon as I finish this program makes me want to puke, but that's what i'm going to do because it will make me a lot more marketable as a potential employee.
