The nursing program looking rather short.

Has anyone attended this school? Is it good, bad, okay??

Hi all. I was just wondering, for the students attending Mercy that are from Michigan, will you be moving down there or staying in Michigan and commuting? I have been considering this school very hard and the one factor that leaves me hesitant is the fact that I would have to take that drive on an almost daily basis. Not to mention the winters, this year wasnt so bad but what if next winter is horrible! All of that makes me a little nervous

I'm starting in the Fall, and I live in Livonia, MI. I'm a bit nervous about the drive, but fortunately I grew up in Maumee, and still have family that live there. I can always stay with them if the weather is bad, or if I'm just exhausted. I figure I will just keep a travel bad in my car at all times! And once you get to know people you might end up with some very good friends that would let you stay the night. I've done that up here with a few people that were far from Schoolcraft when the weather was bad. They bought the pizza and we it made study time not so bad.

I took most of my science courses at a community college and agree that they were 1000 times easier there than at Mercy, but on the flip side of that I don't feel like I know as much as the people that took their A&P at Mercy. I did take Patho at Mercy and LOVED it. Great prof, and even though the class was a lot harder then some science classes i've taken elsewhere, I felt like I really learned something each class. I know i've heard raving reviews about --------- too. Open registration for Summer/Fall started today and her A&P class is already full. ;)

You may have a point there! I know my husband said that if I did decide to go there we needed to save up just in case the roads were bad and I needed to stay in a hotel. That way I wouldn't have to try and brave the weather back home. I know that usually its not that bad I guess because the roads are always plowed and salted before most people get up its just my nerves acting up severely. I haven't even sent my application in because of that so I think I will this week and see what happens. I will cross the traveling bridge when I get there!

Ms.Ashley-

Im going to be moving there. I live in Saginaw, so thats a 2 and a half hour drive that Im not willing to make whenever I have class. I visited the school on Thursday and there are apartment complexes directly across the street from the school. Im not sure where Im going to stay yet though.

You should hurry and submit your application. All of their nursing programs are full and waitlisted now. I spoke with admissions when I visited last week because I wanted to switch from the BSN to the ADN program and they told me that there were several dozen people already on the waitlist so the chances of being able to switch programs was zero to none.

They're going to start pulling people from the waitlist in mid May and grant spots based on GPA (highest GPA's first). Apparently this is the first year that theyve had so many applicants and been so competitive. You should get your app in ASAP.

I have everything together and just need to place it in the mail but I am still pretty hesitant about submitting it because I don't feel my gpa is high enough. I did a gpa calculator yesterday with all my grades and I believe that I was at 3.03. Thats calculating everything not just my pre req's. If they were only calculating that it would be much higher. I am going to submit it anyway just in case but I don't feel that I have a good chance of getting in because they take my entire college history into account not just the classes that I would be transferring in or what not. What were some of the gpa's that got you all in? Would it even be worth it?

I think I had a 3.29 GPA. I sent my transcripts in right before Christmas and got accepted at the beginning of the year for this Fall. I would send it in. I have heard there is now a wait list for the fall, but you never know.

I guess I could. I don't know I guess over time I have just gotten so discouraged. It wouldn't hurt but I would hate to get myself all excited and they tell me I didn't make it in for this year. But I guess I won't know if I don't try

Where are you in Michigan? I'm still living in Livonia, and chipping away at some classes at Schoolcraft before starting in the Fall. It's cheaper up here, and I still have a bit of financial aid left until July. Taking advantage of being unemployed and getting as much done as I can before it all runs out.

I am in Redford. Currently taking classes at HFCC. I really should send in the app because I don't know what will happen if I don't I guess I just feel sort of defeated right now.

Send it in. The worse thing that can happen is they are already full. If so, you aren't any worse off than you were beforehand. And, you can always just keep chipping away at classes if you have any more to take. I'd do it.
