Hi I'm creating a group for all the people who applying or got accepted to mercy college in ny for Spring 20

Hi, I applied for Fall! I received an email stating that I had “missing documents” also, and that my application was closed & wasn’t going to be counted. I immediately reached out to admissions & CC’d the admissions director in that email. A few days went by & I hadn’t heard from anyone. I then emailed the director separately & he got back to me telling me what I was missing. It was only a transcript for a class that wasn’t even included in my final degree. The admissions director had me send the unofficial transcript to him, he then said he was going to upload it for me & that hopefully it wasn’t too late. I received an email today from the college saying to ignore the email about my application being cancelled. The email also said something about them starting to review application in May & to try & be patient. I would say if you need to get in touch with someone try to call or email the director.

OMG thank god!! I was SO worried it was actually closed. I emailed ———— and he hasn’t answered. I will call tomorrow.

I hope we hear back earlier than May, considering that most of us have applied to other programs. Thanks for sharing this tho that email really had us shook LOL

Yes, just keep reaching out until you hear from the director & make sure he lets you know which documents you’re missing. It’s so frustrating that all this stuff is going on at the same time, but hopefully they understand how we all feel as well.

LOL trust me I definitely know how you feel? I was damn near in tears LOL. But, I felt a lot better once I spoke with the director. I would still say try to get in touch with him, so he can let you know for sure what you’re missing & let you know what should be your next step.

So I finally submitted everything completely on 2/13/20. That’s when they started reviewing my application. I talked to ———— and he told me that they were reviewing my App and that I’ll probably hear by 3/31/2020. Turns out, they accepted me earlier than expected! It literally only took them 2 and a half weeks.Undergrad GPA: 3.35
I took Micro, and A&P 1 and 2 all of 2019 at a community college for the Pre-reqs since I didn’t do them in undergrad. That GPA was 3.7
Personal statement: I made it super personal (something that I never really do in Apps) and talked about my medical condition. I never do that bc I hate sob stories and I feel like everyone does that. I’m not the type to use my circumstances as sob stories. I’m a fighter. So I used that and basically made it my “strength”. Also, found a way to tie that into Preventative medicine, how Nursing is the best field to promote this type of medicine, and how I can help contribute to this movement towards preventative medicine. It was exactly 499 words (Def think that essay was the winner towards my acceptance)
Also, I did not use letters of recommendations.
and Since this is a recent topic, I was under the impression that high school transcripts were necessary for the application. The way I was told was that the unofficial one goes on the application and upon acceptance you send the Official copy. (Same goes for Bachelor’s transcript). That’s really the same across the board for any school you apply to. Just my 2 cents. I wouldn’t risk it. Just complete and send everything.
The high school transcript is more for financial aid. They can’t give it to you unless you submit your high school transcript and it’ll delay the process greatly if you don’t hand it in.

Books are expensive if you’re purchasing to keep but there are options that are significantly cheaper such as renting through amazon. Some things are unavoidable such as having to purchase PrepU for Pharmacology which was $150 (Everything online— book, assignments, practice quizzes) and SafeMedicate for dosage calculations ($100).scrubs are purchased through Meridys. School will provide that information for purchasing when the time comes. In this Spring cohort, we wear our scrubs all the time because of lab being on both Monday and Thursday. Scrubs with school logo (purchased through Meridys) must be worm to clinicals. Cheaper scrubs may be worn on non-clinical days to lab.
Our first semester is classes are
Fundamentals (Lec, Lab)
Health Assessment (Lec, Lab, Sim)
Pharmacology (Lec, Lab (online—dosage calculation)
Clinicals
Just as @OsiriaRose mentioned, this is simply our experience. With this being a newer program, things can very well change as they learn and grow.
Where are clinicals done at?

Most of the professors are good and what you learn it should help for NCLEX. It been really hard since Covid-19 so when things settle down hopefully we can give new students insight.Bare with us. we all in this together.
