Men in Nursing

What are your thoughts regarding men in nursing?

The only job in which gender is a relevant factor is gamete donation. Even prostitution is iffy.

I would love to see more men in nursing. My class of (originally 50) only had 3 guys. One is a "rock" for me in nursing school, him and about 3 girls. Another one of the guys I had in Micro and is another great guy, the last one is a total tool. Then again so are about 1/3 of the females! LOL

Anyway I wish their was more of a balance!

My brother is a nurse. :D

We definitely need more men in nursing......:yeah:

I think it's great. Men have a different perspective and some patients may be more comfortable with a male nurse.

I got really offended this week for a guy in my clinical group when his patient asked him if he was gay since he was in nursing school. I couldn't believe the nerve of that guy!

If I was that guy, I might have said, "Why yeth. Now, it says in your chart you need an enema." :D

I love the men I work with in my preceptorship. I am on the neuro floor at nights and my preceptor and about 2/5ths of the staff are men. I think it helps balance everything out.
