Part 2 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand
I have started a thread in the Immigration for Immigration requirements for Australia/New Zealand
closing for time out.
This thread has totally derailed due to someone accusing the nursing body.
EACH country has a right to decide on how they process things... Is it right well that is up to them and YOU wanting to move to that country has to meet it. I see no reason to use any derogatory words, as professionals I think this is totally unprofessional.
Thank you reindeguzman,I will try to email her but I am still waiting for her reply if she is still my CO because the latest email I got is from somebody else,so I am confused whom to email.I am so disappointed coz I was expecting my LOE but they emailed me that they are assessing me with the new model.I submitted my application Aug.2013 and accomplished all the lacking documents.I kept on checking and emailing for months asking for any progress and if there are more documents lacking and they said they cant see any pending in my file. Then this Feb. I heard from my CO that I need to submit one document and I sent it asap....and this is what I received..to accomplish criterion 2,3,8....arggggg,sooo down.
At least AHPRA is emailing you. I've sent off my registration application 6 weeks ago and still haven't been assigned an AHPRA representative/case officer. Was also originally told by AHPRA that my university could email them my course syllabi once I was assigned a representative. I feel like this still may be possible, but at the expense of having to wait who-knows-how-long before they finally assign me a CO. Was hoping this entire process would have been done by now. #frustrated #feeling misled #willpersevere
hi, this is the mail that i received from my reg. officer. does anyone here received the same also? someone who was considered complete earlier than march 20? i lodged mine last nov. 2013 by the way.
Thank you for your email regarding your application with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA).
Your application was considered complete on 20 March 2014 as we received information relating to all eight criteria for internationally qualified nurses and midwives.
The National Board is aware that Philippines’s accreditation processes differ from those described in criteria 2 and 3 and has conducted research to establish whether the Philippines still meets the requirements. The most likely solution is that an applicant education in the Philippines will be referred to a Board approved bridging program; providing all other registration requirements and standards have been met.
The NMBA and AHPRA are aware that you and other applicants from the Philippines have been waiting a significant period of time for a decision and are doing everything to progress these applications in line with our policies and legislation.
It is likely that your application will be taken for considered by the NSW Board of the NMBA in November. All decisions are communicated by email and post within three weeks of the meeting date.
I hope this update has been helpful and please let me know if you have any further questions.
Hello everyone,
I've been in this forum since 2011, but I never posted anything even when I was processing my AHPRA paper back then. I came here in Australia in 2012 and I understand the frustration, excitement and anxiety of applicants who are stuck in this long (seems endless) queue. During my time LOEs were released 2-6 months after lodgement, and I even knew someone who got his in less than a month. This forum was a happier place, exchanges of congratulations, good lucks and well wishes were posted day after day.
Now most people are disheartened, discouraged, disappointed and even furious. BUT guys it's not your fault! I would have felt the same way, If I was confronted with the same circumstance 2 years ago.
So I have decided to write something to encourage everyone :) I hope this post will send positive energy to all of you!
I will start with my timeline, I have waited for my LOE for almost 6 months. While I was waiting, I continually heard things like, BP will be abolished, tuition fee will increase, no more jobs after BP, people are going back home jobless, no more sponsors, 457 visa will be eradicated and the list goes on. My point is, all this bad news were already present 2 years ago. So don't let all these things hinder you from achieving your goals. I believe the secret is prayer, perseverance and right planning. Looking for sponsorship is HARD but not IMPOSSIBLE. I was able to get a sponsor 2 weeks after I receive my nursing registration. I worked with 3 Filipina BP students just last year during their placement and all of them have jobs now. 5 previous workmates came here last year, all are employed and 4 are already permanent resident.
If worst comes to worst, you can always apply for a Permanent Residency ( given you have the sufficient points ). YES, you can apply for permanent residency even without an employer here in Australia, you can even apply for a permanent visa even while you're in the Philippines. This process will cost you more money and more waiting time, but hey, this is a permanent visa. I believe Nursing has atleast 5 classification in the shortage occupation list. This means immigration STILL welcomes nurses! I am saying this to let you know, that not getting a sponsor is not the end of the world :)
So with all these AHPRA changes and uncertainties I hope everyone will still press on and just keep their Australia dream alive. Good news is, Australia is still open and while its still open there's still away. So cheer up! pray and hope for the best!!!
Disclaimer: This is purely based on my experiences and observations. I never claimed that I am an expert on this. I might be wrong on some things. I learned this while helping friends, workmates, schoolmates, batch mates, " a friend of a counsin of this person " process their papers to come here. They will usually ask questions and will keep me updated with what's happening to them.
Good luck on everyone's application and I wish you the best of everything!

as for me.. proceeding to getting a PR visa is the best option after doing BP. The process is easy it only will take 6-7 months [3months for ANMAC] and 3-4 mos for the PR visa process..

Immigration and nursing registration of overseas nurses are JUST privileges, NOT rights! There's a big difference. But it must be a very difficult and painful situation for you guys to go through this lengthy battle. I guess these situations are beyond the applicants' control, unless you all file a class suit. But that would prove to be very counterproductive. The best way to deal with this, I know it's probably just easy to say, is to look back as to why you guys wanted this registration in the first place - which is for most is to have a better life. The registration process is just one part of the journey, there are a lot more challenges to come. And if in this instance a lot of you are already crying foul, then re-assess yourself if this is the best path for your goal. Nobody said that the path is easy. Perseverance, determination, and prayers are the key.
God bless everyone.
