I have started a thread in the Immigration for Immigration requirements for Australia/New Zealand
hello to all, I am a newbie here and just read almost all posts, I have started processing on my application, but I am worried since I don't have much hospital experience, does AHPRA really stick to hospital experience only? Because that was what I was told, that my chances for an approval is slim; I was a CI for 4 years, mostly on RLE exposure, but I am having a hard time securing a SOS or COE from my previous employer stating that I was assigned in the hospitals most of the time. Currently, I am working as a clinic nurse. Please shed some light for me please.
Hi Adharrarn, AHPRA actually defines experience as:
Practice means any role, whether remunerated or not, in
which the individual uses their skills and knowledge as
a nurse or midwife. In accordance with the Recency of
practice registration standard, practice is not restricted to
the provision of direct clinical care. It also includes working
in a direct non-clinical relationship with clients, working in
management, administration, education, research, advisory,
regulatory or policy development roles and any other roles
that impact on safe, effective delivery of services in the
profession and/or use of professional skills.
Practice hours may be recognised if:
* you have practised your profession for a minimum
period equivalent to three months full time, within the
past five years
* the applicant held valid registration with a nursing or
midwifery regulatory authority in the jurisdiction (either
Australia or overseas) when the hours were worked; or
* the role involved the application of nursing and/or
midwifery knowledge and skills; or
* the time was spent undertaking postgraduate education
leading to an award or qualification that is relevant to
the practice of nursing and/or midwifery.
For further information on requirements see the Board's
Recency of practice registration standard which can be found
at Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia - Home
In a nutshell, yes, your experience is great. :)
Hi! I received my offer letter from IHNA Melbourne for February 2013 intake and will be paying the enrolment fee of aud$1,500 this week. For those who are asking, these are the fees that should be paid:
enrolment: aud$1500
tf: aud$11000
accommodation(required)12weeks, fully furnished 2bedded room w/ common dinning&kitchen: aud$3000
I emailed them and asked if I could take an earlier intake, January 2013 perhaps.
For those who going for the said intakes, don't hesitate to email me at [email protected], maybe we could help each other out :)
Thank you

Yourprincess, where did you send your application?
To everyone, where do you think is the best place for me to submit my application?
NSW
Queensland
SA
Victoria
I was hoping I could submit my papers to the office which would treat my application promptly. :)
please give some advice:
There are 3 schools that have the validity of until September 30, 2012.. is there anyone here applied or bound for intakes after september 30, 2012? Do you think that accreditation will be approved later on? what will happen if you take the intake and the school will be accredited after the commencement of your intake> Can you still register to ahpra.???
>is COE really impt? because the hospital where i am working doesnt issue a COE unless you completed the 2 yrs band (i am running 2 yrs come january 2013), but previously i worked as a volunteer nurse for 3 months and a clinic nurse for 6 months (would it be fine?), because i really want to start processing my application now and i dont want it to delay till next year...
>is there any school in Melbourne that is alike with SOUTHERN AUSTRALIA UNIVERSITY?( this school doesnt need a LOE from aphra, you just need to have a 7 in all Ielts subtests and 2 yrs hospital experience, but their program is quite long--18weeks...then after that, that would be the time to register in APHRA
thanks
what i mean here is that I CANNOT PROVIDE ANY DOCUMENTS IN CATEGORIES ABCD (because ive never been to OZ), so i would have to send my license, PRC certificate and the likes to prove my identity. So, i just want to ask if there's a need for me to send a separate letter stating that I cannot provide papers for categories abcd or maybe I could just attach those said documents as a proof... thanks anyway

Do not provide original documents as you will not get them back.
Oh dear, either have many applicants from the Phillipines, India the States and the UK have been to Australia, but prove their identity by getting notorised/certified true copies of the documents from their own country, from categories - ABCD. AHPRA will not consider you application without proof of identity.
A letter stating that you have no identity will not be accepted, if it was, Jane Smith from Timuctoo can write a letter saying she is you, have stolen copies from your nursing school and apply for assessment for RN in Australia.
This is explained in the application form.
You will also have to send copies of your studies for your nursing degree and these all need to notorised as true copies.
How to notorise documents is on the AHPRA website, just do a search on that site.
Yes, you need proof of employment, there is no other way to prove you have been employed.
If you have been registered for over2 years you must prove that you have worked for at least 3 months full time, in a nursing capacity, otherwise you have not forfilled registration requirements for a letter of eligibility for a bridging course.
There are no courses in Victoria for the bridging course, that does not require, letter of eligibility.
University of South Australia, requires 2 years of nursing experience, you will need proof that you have done this to apply for their course.
