Meeting AHPRA requirements as a International Trained Nurse from the Philippines

Well, kudos to us for trying. It's like a ready made template designed for enquiries but I suppose it's better than nothing. IHNA is following-up on my status, their last intake for thisnyear is October, doesn't look like I can join even if an LoE was issued this minute with the funds needing to be wired and all that. I'll go ask them if they had new candidates issued an LoE since a decision was made.

been waiting since Oct 2013.

Same Here. October 2013.

I'm currently here in ahpra sydney office while typing this post..

I submitted a letter comming from my employer that once registered with ahpra they will be able to hire me..

I also asked the desk person if she can provide me some information on my application, she tried to access my account and she just said there is no progress yet but all my documents are in. The assessor/registration officer will contact me directly if ever theres a movement with the application. She also stated that the boards will take into consideration all relevant documents I have passed (BSN, RN, MAN, EXPI), but as of the moment she cant give any information bec the board has the final say with the decision wether i will be referred to BP. I just told her maybe I'll just keep on praying, I been waiting for more than a month now.. And she just laughed and smiled.. She advised me just to wait patiently..

Im claiming my LOE in soonest time, in Jesus name!

I really am hoping for the best aja, I am confident that those LoEs will come soon as the decision framework has been established. I only hope that they did not pause all assessments when they realized that the PH did not meet crit 2 & 3. It is my hope that all credentials were assessed and AQF established while waiting for a final directive on what to do with foreign nurses.

As for the 457 visa:

There you go my friend. [referring to Harry Potter] I do not support the exploitation of people but your argument, your cause is invalidated.

For the past 4 days, I've been lurking a UK Nurses group page and this I gotta tell you: it's showering registration, refusal, referral, registration with conditions. And when I look back here, no single news of decision from the Board. These happy and not so happy UK nurses applied mostly in October 2013, some November and one August. And no, they are not all ANMAC approved pre-February applicants.

And AQF level 6 applicants with specialization in Pedia, Disability and Mental Health are given registration with condition of SUPERVISION. I just envy them.

I know some forumers here applied last October, I wish you all the best.

I suppose the concerted effort (for the moment) is geared towards the thegroup which applies most pressure. I wouldn't envy those which require supervision, in the actual job market it maybe harder for them against an unrestricted Div 1 to find gainful employment.

This forum represents only a small fraction of us who are applying on our own, I am not sure about the other Filos who went with an agency (just don't) as to how their application is going.

We'll get our turn, I just hope we make it in time before November. :)

New update from AHPRA Twitter:

AHPRA: @tinsanguyu National Board only recently finalised research on crit2&3 in Philippines. Apps being prepared for board.

AHPRA: @PiscesASDF Board had to decide best approach for applicants from countries that did not meet crit 2&3 requirements (1/2)

AHPRA: @PiscesASDF Now that research for India is complete, Indian applications will be progressed for decisions (2/2)

AHPRA: @Yakone3 registration decisions are usually communicated to applicants 2-3 weeks after decision made.

I included Indian applications because we are on the same boat. Will AHPRA make a bulk decision to all pending files already at the IQNM national processing level? And after this, we are anticipating correspondence in 2-3 weeks?

Hi, can anyone enlighten me about what to do so i can comply with criterion 2, 3 and 8? my application is currently in the second stage and the nmba is asking me to submit documentary evidence for criterion 2, 3 and 8...

I understand that i would need to go back to my educational institution for these requirements but just i dont know who externally regulates our school coz i came from a state university and i was informed before that state universities operates independently... and with regards to criterion 8, will a letter or a certification that i have successfully completed an assessment for medication management and pharmacology be enough or do i also have to provide a course outline for this as well?

thank you... i hope someone will extend some help...:)

*anyway i wasn't aware of this IQNM until the national board emailed me last Thursday... I applied in Victoria and my CO there didn't ask for it. that's why i thought the requirements are still the same like last year.

ahpra will send you forms that you need to submit to an accrediting body like ched, paascu etc.. the school will provide for criteria 8. I submitted mine to ched and they gave me a certification that verifies my curriculum which i sent back to ahpra.

What gin said,

The CO from VIC wouldn't ask for it the initial stage, s/he would be assessing your general credentials except for the education ones. Once your application is progressed into the second stage, a CO from NSW where all IQNMs are processed will request for these.

If you want a head start, AHPRA's IQNM (see the different criteria) page will provide a sample template for these documents. The process with CHED is similar to that of asking for a CAV although they would know what to do once they see AHPRA's request.

It is generally a good idea to provide a course-by-course description of each unit taken but criterion 8 is very specific, they would need that specific cerrtificate from your education provider. I'd like to take the opportunity as well to remind you that these documents must be sent straight from your school and from CHED to AHPRA.

All the best!

Thank you very much... this is such a very helpful reply...:)

Good day everyone! any updates on our LOE's? Ive passed my application this MARCH 2014, I do hope that there would be a result this month since my CO emailed me before that AHPRA is due this SEPT for a result on my application. If not, I'll be considering the 1 year BSN next year, or maybe apply for the CAP in NZ. Ive been told that the process is faster for the CAP in NZ.

Anyone who has the same plans?

God bless everyone.
