Meeting AHPRA requirements as a International Trained Nurse from the Philippines

i think this is a positive thing.

i think phil degree falls under between aqf5-6. as it does in the UK.

although its between aqf6-7 in the US.

they said, they are ok with aqf 5 initially, but as long as you have shown

further education or gained more over time, then they will consider that as a composite qualification

leading to sufficient education/training equivalent to aqf 6-7.

which is what the minimum is for an aus degree.

I argue that it will fall at 5. We earned a degree. I think it should be at 7. But, they will also consider that our degrees are not completely nursing, it still has gen ed subjects. And maybe the setting is different so maybe it's at 6. If we fall at 5, that means we only gained diploma. Our RLE hours is even greater than their minumum requirements. If we fall at 5, that means goodbye to BP, goodbye to registration.

And they don't consider work qualifications anymore against the standards. Only for recency of practise.

That's correct. All we can do now is to hope and pray that the new model assesses our qualification to either that of AQF level 7 or 6.

Hello! I am new to this site. I am reading the threads here. I learned things and I'm glad I found out about this site. Waiting is really hard but let's hope for the best. Here is my timeline:

May 5, 2014- I send my application to Perth, Australia.

- CHED, PRC & MY UNIVERSITY (also sent the docs I requested)

May 8, 2014- AHPRA replied and acknowledges receipt of my application.

May 12, 2014- My IELTS was delivered in AHPRA Perth electronically by IDP.

July 1, 2014- Msg from Reg. Officer -We can confirm that your application is being assessed but at this time we are unable to provide a date for when this will be finalised.

July 15 2014- NOTICE OF REQUIREMENT from AHPRA. Criterion 2- "REQUEST FOR ACCREDITATION-INSTITUTION" with supporting document.

July 18- My University send the necessary attachment to SYDNEY, NSW as instructed in email.

August 3- AHPRA Reg. Officer from Sydney mailed me again--Please be advised that we have now received all your outstanding documents. A national review team will assess your qualification for substantial equivalence to a National Board-approved qualification in nursing. Due to the current high volume of applications from internationally qualified nurses and midwives we are unable to provide a timeframe for a decision on your application. Please be assured that the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and AHPRA continue to work to expedite the assessment and determination of your application for registration.

I know it was a long wait and some of you waited for long months than me. I just hope we will be able to receive our approval soon and our long wait will be over. Hope to hear more updates from all of you. Thank you! :snurse:

Oh, you are lucky that they are informing you. AHPRA QLD received my application last May 7, 2014 and received my Certificate of Good Standing from PRC last May 26, 2014, that is when my registration assessment officer told me that initial assessment will take place. I informed them that my IQNM 2, 3, 8 were already sent to NSW last April (a month earlier). This was confirmed when I inquired to AHPRA NSW last June 25, 2014 and that my application is with the "registration team". Whenever I inquire to AHPRA QLD, they always give me a generic answer. I just wanted an update if what stage of assessment is my application now. Still, no correspondence from my QLD registration officer and from anyone in NSW.

Do you think that when an email from web inquiry sent to NSW (not my office of lodgement which is QLD) states that an application is with the "registration team", it means that its already with the national review team?

In addition, when NSW replied to my web inquiry last June, they provided a service request number when following up but no registration officer written at the end of the email.

Hi! We are almost in the same track. I am not really sure but since your state is in QLD maybe they already submit in the main office in Sydney and is ready for assessment of the National Board. I really can't say exactly but let's just hope it's there already. I hope you could here from a registration officer. Just try to inquire from the reg.officer in QLD if there is. God bless us! Keep in Touch!

Just don't lose hope. We can do it! Just try to ask the reg.officer in QLD if your application is in the National Board already. I hope he/she can provide you any update at least to be relieved. Waiting is really not a joke. I'm even tired already. I just let myself be occupied by other activities. I hope we can hear positive response. God bless!

I inquired three times to QLD office but they always give me that generic answer. I tried to put my reference number and address it to my registration assessment officer but still the same. You're right, any update would make me feel at ease at least. Whenever they give me that generic answer, it feels like I'm talking to an ATM Machine.

I'll try to give them more inquiries.

By the way, how do you make correspondence with your registration officer? Did they give you their email? Or you just write the reference number and name of the officer to the web inquiry on AHPRA site?

I just come to know about my Registration Officer in Perth and Sydney because they emailed me and it's written below their Registration Officer. Every time I inquire from Reg. Officer in Perth, he is always updating me. Then, when my papers (the additional req) are sent to SYDNEY, NSW, I told him about it. Then, he said he will contact my reg.officer in Sydney. After, few days, my reg.officer in Sydney also emailed me about the progress. They really have their own email account.

Let's just hope and pray that someone will answer you with specific update. I understand what you feel. It is really frustrating when your not sure where's the progress of your application already. Just be optimistic that it will come out soon. Hope we can have a positive response from them. Keep in touch! God bless!

Okay, I see. My registration officer is inefficent then. LoL. I realized that I'm past 90 days after receipt of my application. I believe, extension letter is coming.

I have to stick with this note from AHPRA "an AHPRA staff will contact you if further information is needed." I should believe that everything is fine, my papers are complete that is why no one is contacting me. Haha. Whatever!

I sent you a PM. I hope you'll read it.

Hi!!! I just like to clear some things up. If anyone can so kindly help me. I have recently been approved of a student visa. I will take up aged care course first, then after that do the bridging program. I am currently collecting documents for the AHPRA registration from my university, PRC, etc before I leave for Australia by the end of this month.

1. Do I really need to have the transcripts sent directly to aphra by my educational institution as well as the IELTS by the british council because the application and IQNM form, from what I have read states that a certified copy is sufficient to be put together with your application.

2. In the CV, it says that attach certified copies of any results or performance reports from skills assessment, observership. Does this mean I should include my graded RLE return demos in college, or my performance reports in the hospital that I worked at?

Please help me clarify these things!!! THANKS A LOT!!

Oh, I don't know why you still chose the aged care path. It's impractical. Well, it's your money to spend anyway

You must be rich.

1. Certified copies will do.

2. List all the skills you performed during RLE and make notation if observed or competent
