HI EVERYONE, I would appreciate it very much to know whether the meds given on the NCLEX exams are given by their generic or brand names. Some meds are easier to remember them by thier generic names, and other by their brand names. Thanks...

Jan 21, 2008 From what Ive read, both names are given on NCLEX...and remembering certain parts of the word such as -pril, -olol, -roxine, -pam and putting them into categories helps substantially, there is no way we can know every single medication, so this method works and look for those pocket drug books, they have all categories outlined, and the Pharm. made incredibly easy... good luck ...

mscoffee05 16 Posts Feb 17, 2009 I just took the board exam last week and I had a lot of meds. I suggest that you study the classifications instead of memorizing every drugs. Hope this helps. Goodluck to you!
suzanne4, RN 26,410 Posts Feb 17, 2009 This post is months old.Generic as well as trade names need to be known for this exam. And not all will have meds on their exam. Remember that each question that you receive, other than the first, is based on how you answered the question in front of it.
