Thanks for the response. How do I go about getting those certifications?

Kaplan NCLEX-RN review course
You can enroll in the kaplan q-bank only to get the questions. This allows you to create your own tests. You pick what you want to be tested over, and how many q's you want. I think the complete online program gives you the q-bank as well as the question trainers witch is 7 or 8 exams set up to take along with different sections of the book. They get harder in intensity and number of questions as you go.

Anyone here who went to L&D as a new grad?
I just passed my nclex, but have been out of school for almost 2 years now. Right after graduation, my mother was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and given only one year to live, so I put everything on hold. I only want to work in pp or l/d. I am afraid that no where will want to hire me b/c I have been out of school so long. Do you think someone would still consider hiring me?

Kaplan NCLEX-RN review course
The online practice questions that they give you online helped me the most. I took Kaplan twice. The first time I failed, but I only studied the book and didn't really do the online Q's. The second time I did the onlin Q's and passed. They helped me a lot. The book is also very good to study from, however there are more in-depth books that you can get. If you are trying to save money, just buy the kaplan online q-bank. It gives you the kaplan book and the online questions, but not the class with the strategy. The strategy they teach works, but it cannot be used on the majority of the questions. The strategy is also explained in the kaplan book.

Anyone know if 265 questions means I passed?
I took the NCLEX and failed with 275 Q's and recently took it again and passed with 275 Q's! The first time I did not have many SATA questions, but when I passed, I had at least 20. I think if you had a lot of SATA then chances are you were hitting the higher level questions and you did well on the test. I know I told myself that if I didn't pass, I know I got close b/c of all the SATA questions. Good Luck!

I passed!!!
Hello Everyone! I just want to than you for all the kind words and help studying for the NCLEX. I got all 265 questions and passed. I had taken the NCLEX in the past and failed. This time I had a lot of SATA questions and that was the big difference in the tests for me. Before, when I failed, I had only gotten a few SATA questions, but this time I had at least 20. Advice for those who are studying to take the NCLEX, this is what worked for me: I used Kaplan. The strategy they teach you is ok, but to be honest, you won't use it on that many questions. Many of the questions you get will just require you to select the best answer. However, the information in the book was helpful to study, and most importantly, the practice online exam q's. What I did was study each section of the book, make note cards and study the notecards until I knew them well. Then I would take several practice test q's over that specific material. Do that through the entire book, then at the end, or closer to your test date, take several tests that test you over ALL the material at once. I can't say enough about doing the practice questions. I know that is what helped me pass this time. Even if you are running out of time to stuy, just do the questions and review the answers. It will help you the MOST!! Another very good book to have is the book that suzanne's plan recommends. It is way more thorough than Kaplan, and I often used it as a secondary resource to get more in-depth info on areas that were confusing to me. If you have time, study that book and you will pass, but if not, use kaplan and use it as a secondary resource. It is very thorough with the information it provides and it is organized nicely. Going through that book actually helped me learn my meds much better than other books. At the end of each section ,for example post-parum, it gives you the meds that go along with post-partum. It was easier for me to learn and remember the meds by breaking them up that way versus studying a whole section over all the meds combined. And as I was taking my test, if there was a post-parutm question, even if i didn't remember the med exactly, I knew which ones belonged and which didn't. And the NCLEX is a lot of that. Many times you may not know the correct answer, but as long as you can recognize which answers to eliminate, you can still get the question right, without knowing the answer. To summarize: notecards, practice tests, practice tests, practice tests!! I know how emotionally straining this can be, and now that I have passed I just want to encourage everyone to NOT GIVE UP!! I know i felt like giving up many times, and many times I did. I would get so overwhelmed and frustrated I would just stop studying for weeks. But mostly thanks to the support of this website, I was able to pick my self back up and keep going and not give up, and I FINALLY PASSED!! Thanks and good luck to everyone!

Need help with EKG strips
Help!! I have never been able to understand how to read ekg strips. I need to understand them, how to measure them, how the strip correlates with what's actually happening in the heart and how to calculate bpm. Is there anyone who has a good understanding of this and could possibly explain these things to me?? Thanks!!

any available websites to practice questions?
Google nclex 3500. They offer free test questions and you can create your own test over one specific area or several areas.

Anyone who has completed suzannes plan
I was also planning to do Suzanne's plan and purchased the saunders book and then found out it is no longer offered. I have done Kaplan in the past, and currently have the Q-bank online. Answering the q-bank questions helps me, but I don't feel like the Kaplan book is as detailed as it could be. I am testing in a month, so for now, I am studying Kaplan, and then using Saunders to look up things that I need to study more in depth. If I had more time, I would study only the Saunders book. It tells you everything you need to know and is very well organzied and easy to use, and it also comes with a CD of questions. I would recommend using Saunders, and if you really study the book, I am sure you will pass. This book has all the info you need.
