Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

okay, people! who is with me on this one? i am feeling a little nervous about all those slides! i'm looking forward to meeting everyone in this course!

i will gather up any useful sites i find in the last med micro club and elsewhere and put them in this post!

here's a start ..

some sites from fall 05 club:

I'm starting Micro on Jan 17. I'm so nervous! I hear that it is such a difficult course. But... I'm still excited! I'm taking this in addition to A&PII and Math for Meds. Whew!
Welcome! It's nice to see you here. I have A&P II also and Nursing Foundations I and Nutrition. Fun, fun, fun! Hopefully I can finish up the Nutrition in short order and concentrate on the other courses. Something tells me I will need too.

Count me in!

I am new to allnurses.com but have been very excited about the things I have learned here! I wish I had found it earlier.

Micro is my last pre-req and my applications have been mailed in for ASN Fall 06.

I am taking the class through CCConline. Anyone else? I need help with buying a microscope.

Oh, my book is 6th edition Microbiology by Cowen and Talaro and I have to order a lab kit also. It's going to be an expensive semester.

We don't start until the 20something so I think I will be a bit behind everyone else.

I look forward to "meeting" everyone!

I attempted the first couple of chapters of the book and I am beginning to worry..........lol

I haven't even cracked my book yet. I'm scared if I do I will be physically sucked in, never to be seen again. LOL:rotfl: :rotfl:

Hey, Stpauligirl! It's always good to see you around!

I've flipped through the book. Oh. My. God. There are some very interesting things, but wow. It looks pretty tough. I'd appreciate any micro-specific study tips/mnemonics!

:rotfl: I survived mine..................but only to worry more! :uhoh3:

Hello all,

I'll be starting Microbio at my university on the 23rd (spring semester), probably with a bunch of undergrad bio majors, but that's okay! Still have to order the text online (definitely going to look for an older edition and I don't mind highlighting as long as the book is cheap!). I've had the most luck with amazon, although ecampus sometimes finds cheaper deals. You just have to be sure it will arrive by the time you need it. Good luck to everyone!

Don't let the bio undergrad major students intimidate you.....I had a few graduate students in my A&P class and it meant nothing! They didn't come back after a while because the class kicked everyone's butt.

Good luck you will be fine ;)

I got my book today. Introduction to Microbiology: A case history approach.(I am also taking Chemistry II:crying2: ) We need a chemistry support group!!!!!!!!!!!

There has been some in the past. Feel free to start one, I am sure many will join! ;)

I had my first lecture yesterday! It looks like it could go either way but so far I really liked the prof (only to be told by someone a few hours later that he was really hard and clueless last year -- but I know better than to listen to half the things I hear!). When I got home, my mom said that this was her favourite course in university so hopefully the genes will uphold me!! It really looked good so far but, like I said, am still not sure!!

Have a great day, all! I'm already at university and am going to do some reading before class (not Micro today -- Nursing Foundations).
