  1. I am NOT a morning person...I seem to be tired in the afternoon and when it's time to go to bed, I'm wide awake. I am not disillusioned enought to believe the night shift will be easy. I kinda like the idea of having down time to figure things out at first. I am sure I will be a zombie until my body adjusts! Thanks for the reply.
  2. Thank you so much for the reply!
  3. I am a new grad and I will soon be working as a psych nurse. I will be working at a hospital with a separate psych facility that includes several units-adolescent, outpatient, detox, gen. psych, and acute adult/gero. I will have the opportunity to work in all the units. I am excited because I love that I can use my communication skills more readily than on med-surg. Med-surg never held any charms for me-I always knew psych was my calling. I will be starting out working nights-two 8's and two 12s a week. Any advice from some seasoned psych nurses-especially night nurses? Thanks!

  5. Well, I never heard anything and it's been 10 days. I emailed the Employment center interviewer twice and she never responded. I'm aggrivated that if they don't want me, why won't they just let me know? I would like feedback in case I'm doing something wrong during the interviews. It's not fair to leave me hanging.:flmngmd:
  6. I interviewed at the employment center on Tuesday for a position on Telemtry south. I have not gotten a call yet. :banghead:Would it be pushy to call or email the interviewer? I really want the job, but I don't want to wait around if I have no chance. Any thoughts?
  7. What's the difference between telemetry north and telemetry south? Also, are the benefits worth the pay difference between benefitted and non-benefitted employees?
  8. I just graduated in December. Don't let anyone scare you by saying it's going to be hell. I never failed a class and I did it with two small children...i finished my last semester pregnant with my third. The instructors are wonderful and Southeastern students are generally very respected. If you want it badly enough, you will do great. Good luck to everyone!
  9. Thanks, Daytonite! You always have such helpful answers! I always look for your posts because I always learn something new. You are a treasure for all of us on AllNurses!:bowingpur :icon_hug:
  10. Hi, Guys! I really need help with my preclinical paperwork. We go to preclinical on Monday, when we meet our pt. and look at their chart. We have to look up the primary and secondary DX, lall labs and what the result means for the pt, all drugs we will administer, all medical eq. and lines they are hooked up to (catheters, ostomies, ng tubes, drains, IVs, etc.), procedures they have had recently. My problem is that I get home at 6pm (the hosp. is 90 min. away). The paperwork has to be done by 7am the next morning. I am literally doing this paperwork for 8 hours or more! I need to find a way to complete this in less time (so I can get up at 5 to be at the hospital for 7-and take care of my pt. until 12). I have been looking all of this info up in our books, but there has got to be a better way...on top of this, I have two small children. I need some websites (esp. lab tests and what their results mean) to make this process quicker. I could also use suggestions for the best order to look the info up so I dont have to keep going back and forth. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  11. I love HOUSE!!!! I am not a nurse yet but this show is very educational. I love Hugh Laurie's character...wish I could find a guy like that!! He is so real. I hate suck ups...
  12. Starting BSN program in August at SOUTHEASTERN LOUISIANA UNIVERSITY!!!!!! GO LIONS!!!
  13. We just finished acids and bases. Yes, you do need to know the names and formulas of the polyatomic ions in order to know which acid it is. The names are directly related to the ion it contains. I can try to help you, ask a more specific question. I will do what I can to help you. Good Luck!a
  14. O.K.....I really need your help on this one. My son will be 5 in March and I cannot convince him to do the deed on the potty. I have tried just about everything except super gluing him to the seat! He urinates regularly, since he was 3. He has pooped on the potty about 4 times in his life and I made a HUGE deal about what a big boy he was. I am afraid if I push him too hard, I might do some mental damage:uhoh3: . I have a 15 month old daughter, too. I am sick of diapers! Someone please tell me I won't be wiping his butt forever!:imbar Thanks in advance!
  15. Thank you for the great replies! Luckily, I think it was a one time thing. Does anyone else think that raising kids is the hardest and emotionally wrenching job in the world? I love my kids more than life itself, but I worry about them CONSTANTLY.....I just hope I can get them to their 18th birthdays!!!!!!:chuckle
