Sorry that you have a crummy teacher, I had a bad one for A&P 1 last semester. Maybe you can just drop this course and retake it with a better teacher. Glad you like A&P. Good luck
Gosh how I wish I could, but it would just screw up my student loans. Just have to grin and bear it, and umble and grumble a bit.

I know what you mean,I stuck it out too, because I didn't want to loose my tuition money...somehow I fournd a way to deal with him and with God's help got an A in the end....do your best and hang in there. If yo need to vent I am here, I vented all the time here last semester about my situation.
Good luck to you Moon.I need some advice. I had an OK lab partner (a guy, I knew him from A&P II) who knew how to set up the burners, etc. (I'm not too great being an older student). He had to drop last Thursday because his mother-in-law is dying and he has to go to the Philippines for a few weeks. Anyway, I thought since we sit at tables of four I have two other partners I know so OK. I come in yesterday only to see this redhead who isn't even in our lecture class and now she's my new partner!! I once went to open lab back in the Fall to check out the cadavers on a Saturday and she was there (my first experience with her). At first I thought she was a professor because she had one of those "I know everything" type attitudes. So she kept butting in on our cadaver the whole period and I didn't like her then. Now to only find out she's my partner!! She was telling me I was doing the wrong stain when in fact I wasn't. She also didn't like the way I set up the burner, which had been fine for our table before. I'm one of those who just is silent and does her own thing. Help. My mom says I should ask the teacher to move me but considering I'm 37 doesn't that look childish?? :argue:
Absolutely talk to the instructor privately. I am sorry about this, you deserve better.
Good luck
I have been watching this thread and just now joined up to post. I am so happy you were able to transfer to a decent instructor.LOL! I wish I could too!!!! my professor is WOW! She is a doctor (MD) and says she is here to lift us out of our blue collar lives. I have been a straight A student since I started this journey and I just got my first D on an exam.... most of the class got C or lower. A fellow student and I talked to her about what she is expecting from us (no outline of what is going to be on the test and some things are not covered either in lecture or text). Her reply was that we should have learned these things in our undergraduate studies? Ummmm... we ARE undergraduates? I am going to bust my tail to bring up my grade, but I think this class will go down as my most hated. I am so loving A&P now
OntheRoad, thank you first of all for your support.
As for your instructor she is probably related to my ex-instructor. Like I had mentioned before she enjoyed putting down the nursing field ets.... I took her first exam and got a C, there were only 2 b's and the rest were F's. I talked to the head of the department (who let me transfer to her class) and she was reprimanded. Last I heard is that she has soften quit a bit and the students are feeling better. This crazy instructor treated us as if we were in the field already and going for our PhD's or something. She didn't go by our book and rather brought in hers from grad school. She was ridiculously difficult.
If you cannot get out than do the best you can. I will be praying for you!
Good luck
Ugh. Just got back from the first test. It was brutal!!:angryfire She asked so many detailed questions about things I didn't think were that important to know for this test. UGHHH. I always get A's and now I am just hoping for a B.
There were 49 multiple (98 points) one fill in the blank sort of (1 point), another short answer (2 points) and an essay (10 points). That adds up to 112 points, so at least there were 12 extra points in case I missed a lot on the multiple choice. I feel like **** right now--i just want to like die because I studied sooooo FREAKIN hard and I didn't cram, but it feels impossible to me. I need to get an A!
Anyone know what DPA is? It was a question she asked for short answer--never even heard of it or read it before in the book.
whatever.
*stabs self*
I can empathize, I am willing to bet you did better than you think!
Good luck and let us know :)
The only thing about DPA that I can think of is that it is Dipicolinic Acid which plays a role in the germination of Bacillus subtilus spores (endospores which are extremely tough and resist UV radioation and extreme temperature changes) Hope that helped!
That probably is it, but I have looked through every chapter that was on the test and there is no mention of this and I also looked through every last PPT slide--no mention of it either. Also, when I look in the back of the book, there is no dipicolinic acid--lol whatever~!!
I am just dying to know my grade. I wonder if she is one of those teachers who takes forever to grade.

The question was probably from a test from 30 years ago and the teacher didn't update the test so it matches the new material...my A&P teacher did that kind of stuff, all his tests were from before the War of 1812....gosh, I feel for you, hang in there and ask why you can't find anything about this DPA in your material. I confronted my teacher about his crappy questions Maybe yours will throw that question out.
I have my first lab practical exam Tues.....I will let you know how it goes. I upped my nutrition exam and got it out of the way so that I can study for Monday's nursing exam, Tuesday's micro practical and work on my pt assignments.........I need a vacation already..............lol
