okay, people! who is with me on this one? i am feeling a little nervous about all those slides! i'm looking forward to meeting everyone in this course!

i will gather up any useful sites i find in the last med micro club and elsewhere and put them in this post!

here's a start ..

some sites from fall 05 club:

Specializes in ICU.

Today in lab we did a simple stain. Three, Serratia, our own environmental sample, and Micrococcus roseus. We didn't have enough time to see them under the microscope though-oh well.

Our test was supposed to be next Tuesday--covering chapters 1,2,3,4, and 11. However, we haven't even finished chapter 3, so she moved the test back one class today to Thursday--woopdido, like one extra day to study. I'll take what I can get I suppose.

We were finally catching up today, on a roll, going at a nice pace when the fire alarm went off! We waited outside for 20 minutes until they let us back...no idea what happened.

I swear this class needs to be way longer than it is.:clown:

Okay, I really need to vent.

We have these 10 question or so take home quizzes for each chapter in MCB. Well, I got 100% on quiz 1, but I somehow missed one on the 2nd--so that is a 90 and now I am looking and I know I bubbled in one wrong answer for quiz 3!! ARGGHHHH *insert profanities*I cannot afford to be getting bad grades on things that are take home and so freakin' easy.

What the hell is wrong with me!? THIS CANNOT HAPPEN AGAIN:angryfire:crying2::nono:

Okay, I seriously need to stop checking this message board, get off the internet, and study for my 355345351414 things. :typing:Crash:

Thanks for letting me vent

You are lucky to have take home quizzes. We have 10 question quizzes in lab each week :crying2: and they are not easy.

I went to my third micro class today. Finally she went over all the different types of stains. I was completely confused there for a while.

Word of caution: I got some blue dye on my sweatshirt and she had me put on some stuff that would take it out, no dice. I believe it's ruined. Fortunately it's not one of my favorites. So I went out and bought a $4.00 sweatshirt this afternoon because I do not want to be worried for the next 15 weeks. :smackingf Be careful.

That sucks! We are required to have lab coats--so I guess I can just make a big mess lol.

Our teacher warned us right away about stains on clothes....we have a choice of lab coat, apron or just plain frumpy clothes..I wear frumpy sweatpants and the oldest T-shirts I can find. Some of the students come in looking like they go to a fashion show, next thing they know their hair is on fire :angryfire :chuckle but I don't care. I am there to make an A and to grow some serious critters. As soon as I get home those contaminated clothes come right off....never know what bugs we can catch and what moves in at home Have fun guys, beauty is skin deep, dumb is forever!!!!!

Smart girl, now you can splash away :rotfl:

Hmmm I'm getting behind here, sorry!

We have our first exam on Monday! The teacher is ok -- fairly clear on the explanations in lectue. I do like the labs but was very frustrated the other night. We have the first lab of the week and sometimes the explanations are not all they could be. The lab instructor is really nice but she hasn't been at it for a while so we are kind of the guinea pigs for the class. I am certainly not ready for an exam but once I saturate myself in my books for a few hours I will feel much better. It's all very understandable and seems simple .. until he starts giving us in-class oral quizzes and then .. YIKES!! LOL

Have a great day, all!

P.S. We are required to wear lab coats at all times in our labs.

Glad I had my $4.00 sweatshirt on for lab today. It is already marked up with several different color dyes. I'm surprised no one else from my class has gotten anything on their clothes. Some wear nice sweaters, etc. Not a very good idea, as I learned!! :uhoh3:

the more stains you have on your shirt, the more you have learned!!!!

you can always keep it as a souvenir to share the splishy splashy mircobial war stories :rotfl:

Wow are these classes different. I have had 2 labs already and the third is tomorrow, and we aren't anywhere near stains. We are doing pond water wetmounts and hanging drop mounts. I already know our 1st test is weeks away, because she doesn't want to make them the same time as A&P tests.

I'm joining the club....
