If I took the GRE for another program, but got a very average score (only a little bit above 300), do you think it would hurt me or help me to include it on the application? I keep going back and forth.

I mean columbia doesn’t require the GRE anymore. So you don’t have to include it, it’s fairly optional. I don’t think it would be hurt you though. But it will show them that you took the GRE and even if its an average score it’s still good.

Think about it like this, do not write it if it is going to take away from your application. It is about quality, not quantity.

Don’t worry about having to do the optional essay unless you have information that was not mentioned anywhere else in the application that you’d like them to know about or consider when reviewing your application. During the last information session I attended in September we were told that those who use the optional essay more often than not end up repeating things already said in their application (not all but a big chunk) I second Michelle’s statement, quality over quantity.

You both are right, thank you ! Im going to take a good look at my application and see if there’s anything missing about me that I feel I should discuss or not. The deadline is just soo close  ? sigh... stressful times

@am_elle + @nc29 - I believe there is another "need based financial aid" application beyond the FAFSA.

The logging in is confusing and I had the same problem as you.

I was able to solve it by going here: https://admissions.nursing.columbia.edu/apply/ and scrolling to the bottom. I would see links to both my nursing school application and the need based financial aid application.

I thought the timed essay questions did not relate to nursing!

I thought so too!! When I first got to the page I had to double check that I was in the right spot

do you mean the link that says "financial aid for degree programs only"? if so then where do I click to apply, is it the "federal direct graudate plus loan request"? if you have a link for the need based aid please send it here thank you!!

Yes. It shows up as a "2021 Financial Aid Scholarship" on the your application section. I have tried to copy and paste a screenshot. image.thumb.png.67406efbd1af2a2bd26267facc1a446c.png

If I remember correctly it was the "Financial aid for degree programs only" link that is listed in blue on the screenshot above.
